I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1160: Partnership
Chapter 1160: Partnership
If there was one thing that Axel hated the most when he found out about Hera and Heaven, it was that he never met Hera Cruel. Strange as it may sound, but Axel felt a lot more sad at the fact he shared memories with his sister-in-law with a different face. Therefore, he stared at Hera’s picture until he was able to memorize it.
So, there was no doubt this madam looked like Hera. They were more like mother and daughter.
What was going on here?
"I would be flattered if you’re looking at me with admiration," the Madam humored. "But you seemed... shocked. I wonder where that shock roots from?" fгeewebnovёl.com
"It’s just that I have a different image in mind for the person who targets innocent people." Axel cleared his throat, telling himself to concentrate. "You look better than I expected."
"I heard the Second Young Master has a talent to sweet talk his way into things he wanted. I would take that as a compliment, Second Young Master Zhu." The Madam smiled in satisfaction. "And you were much sharper than I expected."
"Are you talking about the two men you sent to scare me off?"
The madam smiled even more. "I told them if they could make you turn around, then I’ll give them promotions."
"But they failed." Axel was quick to pick up the hints. "Since they failed, I believe you’re not the type to tolerate failures."
"You want to know what happened since they failed?" the madam snapped her finger, and Axel intuitively glanced at the way where he came from.
Axel squinted his eyes as he caught the men who rode with him in the elevator being dragged inside. Unlike moments ago, the two men were already bleeding from getting beaten up. The men who carried the two men tossed them on the floor with a thud.
"That’s what happened, Second Young Master," the Madam continued, motioning her finger.
As soon as she did, one of the men who carried the two men pulled out a pistol with a silencer. He aimed it at one of them, pulling the trigger without a second hesitation. Blood immediately spread underneath the man’s head.
For a moment, Axel stared at the person lying lifelessly on the ground with blank eyes.
’He killed his comrades just like that,’ he thought, almost blanking out as he didn’t even notice that another fire was shot. He only realized it when the blood on the floor was wider and thicker.
’They died... because... of me,’ he whispered to himself. ’This is her way of telling me if I failed her, she’d kill me.’
"I’m sorry about that Second Young Master. It seemed I got ahead of myself and thought you would be able to enjoy a brief moment of entertainment."
Entertainment?
Axel snapped his eyes back at the madam, this time, he felt oddly calm. "I don’t like the sight of blood," he confessed. "Madam, your way of entertainment is... revolting."
"Was it?" she tilted her head to the side. "Does that change your mind?"
"It makes me reconsider."
"You’re quite honest, Second Young Master Zhu."
"Were you not?" Axel calculatively leaned back while unbuttoning his suit, resting his leg over the other. "The Madam is being honest with me by showing me how repulsive she could be, and so, it is only polite if I show her my honest side as well."
The Madam smirked in amusement, studying Axel’s demeanor. "When I heard about the Second Young Master Zhu, I was expecting a spoiled and sheltered boy trapped in a man’s body. But it seemed the rumors of you being your brother’s puppet weren’t true at all."
"My brother stepped down from his position because he aims for something else." Axel shrugged. "Once he sets his eyes on something, he won’t let it go. He can be quite stubborn, but he’s always amazing in what he does."
"You sound like you truly admire and respect your brother," she pointed out. "I find it quite... romantic for two brothers to take care of each other."
"It’s called family, Madam," Axel stressed. "I respect and admire my brother. Even if he makes mistakes here and there, and even how annoying he could be, that will never change."
"So, why are you here?" the Madam cocked her head to the side. "I thought you came in here because you want full control of the Lyon Group? After all, your brother still has his shares in the company and most of the board of directors still favor him."
"Madam, may I ask you a question?"
The Madam raised her brows, waiting for his question.
"Do you have siblings? A sister or a brother?" Axel inquired out of pure curiosity.
"Why do you ask?"
"Because if you do, you’ll understand me more." His answer was quick and full of conviction. "I want full control of the Lyon Group, but that doesn’t mean it was because I’m tired of being in Dominic Zhu’s shadows."
"Oh?" she raised her brows, intrigued. "I thought you fell for that talk we had."
"You and I... aren’t the same, Madam — with all due respect," he continued. "I want to be more powerful, more in control so that my brother could lean on me. So that I could protect him."
The corner of the Madam’s lips curled up in amusement. "Well, that is a problem."
"And how is that a problem?"
"Because that raises the concern that you might betray me once you get what you want."
"Both you and I knew that is bullshit. There’s never enough, Madam." Axel narrowed his eyes mildly while shaking his head. "And we also both know you wanted me on your side even more now."
"And why is that?"
"Because unlike all the people you manipulated, Dane Zhang and this man Dragon, my fuel is different," he explained in a knowing tone, smirking. "Those pathetic losers wanted power and control to make a name for themselves. They wanted to prove something, and where did those guys end up?"
"I don’t have such a desire. My greed and ambition are fueled to protect my family." Axel slowly leaned forward, resting his arms on his legs. "I assumed you, of all people, know how far someone could go if their drive is to protect something or someone they deeply value, madam."
For a moment, Axel and the Madam didn’t speak. They simply stared at each other until the madam chuckled.
"Call me Florence, Second Young Master," she said and earned a smile from him.
"Then you may also call me Axel." He cast her a knowing look. "Shall we start and talk about our partnership now, Florence?"
