The light from the warper faded, and the buzzing hum of its energy died down. Jake and Amber stood still for a moment, adjusting to the sudden shift in temperature and air density.

They were no longer in Jake's home, at least, not the one on Earth.

The scent of air, the faint metallic tinge of blood, and the cool, heavy atmosphere unique to the vampire planet greeted them like a thick cloak wrapping around their bodies. Light red curtains rustled softly against the walls of the room they'd materialized in, stirred by a cool breeze.

Amber blinked her eyes and glanced around, her arms folded across her chest. "This isn't a city like you said."

Jake rubbed the back of his neck, letting out a nervous chuckle. "Yeah… It's my residence. I must have forgotten that the warper defaults to the coordinates set."

She narrowed her eyes at him, her tone flat. "Did you bring me here just to try something lewd with me?"

Jake raised both hands in defense, smiling slyly. "Now, now. If I wanted to do something lewd, I wouldn't need a warper to set the mood. And besides—" he gave her a teasing wink, "—you would probably kick me through the wall if I tried something stupid."

Amber snorted. "Damn right I would."

He gestured toward the door. "Come on. Let's head out before you start interrogating me like I'm one of those villains from your past life stories."

With a sigh and a suspicious side glance, Amber followed Jake through the corridors of the dark, quiet manor. The place held a strange warmth despite its gothic design, carved obsidian pillars, velvet drapes, ancient relics dotting the walls. The building was eerily silent, but Jake's enhanced senses could pick up faint traces of Zagrath and Zamira.

"They've been here recently," Jake muttered, his nostrils flaring slightly like a pig's. "Still smells like them. They must have slept here the whole time."

Amber nodded absently, scanning the hallway. "Good thing we didn't bump into them. I'm not really in the mood for any long, awkward talks."

"They aren't interested in that either."

They made their way outside, where the vampire sky remained in a state of dusky twilight—neither fully night nor day, a perpetual evening that cast long shadows across the sharp, jagged landscape.

Jake turned to her with a grin. "Can you fly?"

Amber raised an eyebrow. "Are you seriously asking me that?"

He shrugged. "I don't assume things."

Amber smirked. "You're underestimating me."

Jake leapt into the air with a surge of power, a blur of motion that left a gust of wind in his wake. Amber didn't hesitate. With a burst of aura and a flash of light, she launched after him, keeping pace with ease.

They soared through the sky, cutting through the clouds like arrows. The land below transformed from rocky cliffs to verdant plains as they neared their destination, Zunda's stronghold, located on the sprawling flatlands just east of the Blood Forest.

As they descended, a cluster of

figures stood at attention near the central compound where the underground is located. Sikee, the Wendigo leader, stood at the forefront. The moment Jake's boots touched the ground, Sikee dropped to one knee, his monster-like head bowed low in reverence.

"Welcome back, my king," Sikee said, his voice deep and gravelly.

Jake blinked in surprise, then waved a hand. "Get up, Sikee. No need for all that."

Sikee stood slowly, his eyes glowing faintly. "You've become stronger since last we met, master."

Jake smiled. "I could say the same about you. You're radiating with even more power."

The Wendigo leader's grin exposed rows of sharp teeth. "Thanks to her highness, Zunda and her experiments. Her work has… unlocked more of my potential."

Behind Jake, Amber folded her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Imagine being happy about being experimented on."

Sikee's eyes suddenly flicked to her, sharp and glinting with challenge but the moment he met her gaze, Amber shot him a glare with Ki, so cold, so powerful, that his bravado instantly crumbled. He swallowed hard, glancing away, suddenly very interested in the ground beneath his feet.

Amber tilted her head slightly, her voice low. "Know your place."

Sikee muttered an apology and stepped back, looking chastened.

Jake chuckled softly, stepping between them. "Easy. No need to bully poor Sikee. He is a baby compared to you."

Amber relaxed slightly, but her eyes stayed sharp. "As long as he doesn't get cocky."

Sikee nodded silently, clearly deciding to avoid provoking her again.

Jake stood still for a moment, his eyes fixed on the wide plain before him. The wind was calm, and the air held the lingering scent of iron and fresh soil. Wendigos, at least two dozen of them, stood stationed around the field, their eyes glowing faintly in the dusky light. None dared approach him. They knew who he was. freewёbnoνel.com

Amber crossed her arms beside him, her sharp eyes scanning the area. "Are you sure this is the right spot?"

Jake nodded, crouching slowly. "Yeah. Zunda said this was the proper entrance since I just burst through the ground the other time."

He lowered his palm to the ground, pressing it firmly against the soil. For a few seconds, nothing happened but then, the ground began to rumble.

The Wendigos didn't flinch. They simply watched.

A mechanical grinding sound echoed through the air as the earth beneath Jake and Amber parted like sliding doors. A circular platform revealed itself beneath the dirt, humming with dormant energy. With a faint hiss, it began to descend, taking them with it.

Amber arched a brow. "A dramatic entry is not bad."

Jake just grinned as they disappeared below the surface.

The tunnel they descended into was dimly lit with yellow-glowing light embedded into the walls, casting a glow on the metallic veins that ran along the structure. Steam occasionally hissed from small vents, giving the place an eerie, yet alive, feel.

"I'll never get used to how sci-fi she makes everything feel," Jake murmured.

Amber muttered, "There is nothing sci-fi about this. It's like we walked straight into a horrific vampire lair."

Before long, they reached a landing. Waiting at the end of the corridor was a familiar figure—Zunda's personal assistant. The meek girl from before, her platinum hair tied neatly behind her and her head bowed respectfully.

"Your highness," she greeted in a soft, respectful tone. "Her highness has been expecting you. Please, follow me."

Jake offered her a smile. "Thanks."

But even as she turned and led the way, Jake noticed something off about her. It was in her gaze—brief, lingering, and just a little too intense. There was no aggression in it, but it gave him a strange sensation that made his skin crawl for a moment. But he shook it off.

Amber, however, narrowed her eyes, clearly sensing it too. Her fingers twitched slightly, as if resisting the urge to say something then and there.

They continued down the sleek hallway until they reached an elegant set of mechanical doors that whooshed open with a soft hiss. Zunda's residence was spacious, minimalist in design, but infused with technology that pulsed with energy. This was clearly a different entrance from the first time he came.

Inside, Zunda stood over a workbench, hunched above what looked like a mechanical construct—half machine, half organic tissue. Sparks danced from her tools as she adjusted components with precision. She hadn't noticed them yet.

"He is here, your highness," the assistant announced softly.

Zunda's ears perked. Her head snapped up, and the moment her eyes landed on Jake, her face lit up. She tossed her tools aside and practically dashed across the room.

"Jake!" she exclaimed.

Before he could even speak, she threw her arms around him, pressing herself to his chest. Her voice was muffled slightly as she buried her face into him. "You idiot, why didn't you tell me you were coming sooner? I missed you!"

And then, without warning, she pulled back slightly and pressed her lips to his. It was soft at first, then hungry, like she hadn't kissed anyone in centuries.

Jake blinked in surprise but returned the kiss without hesitation.

Amber stood a few feet away, her expression twisted in clear disgust. 'Seriously?'

she thought bitterly. 'This guy thinks with his dick. He can't go five minutes without a girl on him. He didn't even spare his grandmother. Absolute pervert.'

When Zunda finally pulled away, her smile lingered, but her attention shifted to Amber. Her tone softened, more polite, and curious.

"And… who might this be?" she asked.

Jake placed a hand on Amber's back. "This is Amber. She's Misty's second personality—well, was. She has her own body now thanks to Edgar Frost's work I told you about."

Zunda's eyes widened. "Oh… Oh dear," she said, blushing with embarrassment. "Forgive me. I didn't realize I was doing something so lewd in front of someone I shouldn't have."

She stepped forward and gave Amber a gentle hug, to which Amber stiffly responded with a light tap on her back.

"Nice to meet you," Zunda said genuinely.

Amber forced a smile, her voice strained. "Y-Yeah. You too. I, uh, think I'll go get some fresh air now."

Zunda nodded understandingly. "My personal assistant will be just outside. Ask her to take you around. There's a lot of things I think you'll find interesting."

Amber quickly turned and walked toward the exit. "Sure."

As the doors slid shut behind her, Jake turned to Zunda, who was already reaching for his hand again while looking at him strangely.

"She's… strange," Zunda said softly.

Jake chuckled. "Yeah, but she's reliable."

Zunda squeezed his hand, her voice dropping slightly. "I really did miss you."

"I missed you too," Jake replied, his gaze softening as he reached for her breasts under her dress, giving them a hard squeeze.
