I Am The Heroine's Father: The Cannon Fodder's Ascent-Chapter 53: The wonders of a human being
Chapter 53 - The wonders of a human being
Velmire's eyes widened at the face Johan wore, and he immediately realized how out of line he was. "I am sorry, I didn't mean it like this. Please forget what I said!" his voice as it came you.
It was very out of line for him to ask something like this, but... He also got his answer too.
This man sacrificed Alya just because he really wanted to save the world. It was a scummy move, but from a utilitarian perspective, it made Velmire admire Johan all the more.
Johan stayed quiet, not replying. 'I don't understand this. Why... why did 'he' do this? To save the world? Bullshit. I would never sacrifice my loved ones just to save the world. Johan follows this more than me... he would never—probably because...
He never sacrificed!'
Johan's whole body trembled as he thought of a possibility, clutching the seal tightly.
This wasn't discussed in the game at all—
From the perspective of the protagonist, big bad guy Radhaan revives the bigger bad guy, the Goddess of Death. 'He always wanted to break the seal. Like in one of the endings when Johan joined Alistar and worked with Radhaan, it was probably how Death was revived in the first place.'
He smiled softly. Another puzzle was solved about Johan Von Matilda.
'He still felt regret over deciding the fate of Alya on his own, but he had to if he wanted to prevent her from dying. If the Goddess of Death awakened inside her... she would've died, obviously... a mortal soul can't handle that kinda Aether.'
Johan sighed deeply, rubbing his temples gently.
Johan hit four birds with a single arrow—got his father killed, became the patriarch of House Matilda. Saved the world from dying at 'Alya's' hands. Saved Alya's life from certain death. Made sure Radhaan or anyone like him wouldn't kill him and treat him like a princess until they were prepared to revive Death.
'But of course, because of someone like Leor, all his decades of planning went down the drain. He just directly killed him in the main ending... wonder how Radhaan revived her then...'
Johan pondered silently, joining his hands in a praying moth.
"Harbinger of Death: Death is No More."
A violent green light escaped from his body, brightening the dark light.
Melodis asked, surprised, "What are you doing? There is no vessel here to put Velmire's soul into... first you need to find his body, right?"
Johan shook his head.
"Heh, no. The body will come to the soul, just like how the soul goes to the body while normally using it. Finding every cell of his body—from limbs to organs—is a hassle of another level. There's no need for that," he patiently explained.
Both soul and body are made of one kind of life form—Aether. Noble-blooded individuals like Velmire, Johan, Sebastian can control Aether with their Aether core, a digestive organ for Aether, while commoners and other animals can't.
So to a technique like Death is No More, there is no difference between both. They're both made of the same matter—from every drop of blood to the smallest of cells, everything is Aether.
Thousands of screams rang across the dark sea—wails of monsters and fishes who had eaten Velmire's corpse.
Velmire's soul started glowing golden, and Johan's brightness began to dim.
All pieces of flesh, mashed bones, tiny fragments of teeth, smoothies of organs, melted eyeballs—everything floated near Johan.
"Karma: Cycle of Regeneration," Johan mumbled.
The green glowing light slowly transformed into a beautiful magic circle, more than 30 feet wide.
A high-level healing spell designed to treat down to the cellular level. This was the Divine-level healing spell that the real Johan had learned after practicing daily for three decades.
Being a great noble had its benefits—even a child could gain access to such spells in his library.
Johan saw it all—his brain's senses overwhelmed as each of the 206 bones—skull, spine, ribs, pelvis, femur, humerus, tibia, fibula, radius, ulna, clavicle, scapula, sternum, phalanges, carpals—and organs like the brain, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, stomach, intestines, pancreas, spleen, bladder, gallbladder, uterus, testes, etc., filled his vision.
His breathing grew ragged, wanting to puke at the disgusting sight. But as a dropout from medical university, he was at least a little used to it, so that helped.
He slowly located each of Velmire's nerves, carefully connecting them all together. Then, he stitched all the flesh, creating a hollow flesh body shaped exactly like Velmire.
No one could tell it was stitched because of how precise it was.
All the pieces of bone separated—first joining on their own in 206 pieces—then those pieces began connecting. For Johan, it was like playing a high-level puzzle. But due to his memories and years spent cutting and analyzing corpses, it was doable.
All the muscles started attaching themselves to the bone.
It was done. A sack of flesh, bone, and organs.
It looked exactly like Velmire's original physique.
With a motion of his finger, the skin began stitching itself onto Velmire's body.
Velmire stared with wide eyes, clearly impressed by the level of skill required to do something like this.
It was even harder than designing a high-level seal.
Melodis smiled, observing everything carefully. He might just learn the techniques Johan was using from how closely he was watching.
And of course, Aether abilities were just affinities.
Everything and everyone is Aether, so anything is possible with Aether.
Even Leor's ability is, on the surface, just a higher affinity with quantum reality. Johan's Harbinger of Life—higher affinity to biological regeneration.
Similarly, Sebastian and Radhaan to gravity and lightning.
So, in theory, it's possible to do anything with just having Aether—but practically impossible, as you can't just change your affinity.
In a myth about Ymir, it was said that she is the only being who has the affinity to everything—as she is everything.
Johan smiled as he pulled Velmire's soul inside the meat sack all living creatures were.
Velmire's pupils dilated.
