How I Tamed My Wolfish Husband Back in 80s-Chapter 411 - 413: Adding Flowers to the Brocade_1
Chapter 411: Chapter 413: Adding Flowers to the Brocade_1
Li Qiao had officially finished her confinement, no longer spending all her days in bed. When the baby was asleep, she would pick up the books she had read before and flip through them.
Old Mrs. Qin did not go to the garment workshop that day, choosing instead to stay home with the child.
Around noon, Qin Jin returned from outside and inquired, "Have Qiaoqiao and Second Sister left?"
Qin Jin, "They have left."
"Has Li Jinhua woken up? I heard from Jin that smelling the Poppy Anesthetic can make a person drowsy, won’t she go mad from eating a handful of it?" Old Mrs. Qin was somewhat worried. If someone went mad in Beijing, wouldn’t the people in her hometown village say they neglected to take good care of her? It wouldn’t be good for their reputation either.
"Who cares if she goes mad or not," Qin Jin said indifferently.
Old Mrs. Qin, "Why would someone target Li Jinhua, a stranger in a strange place, and feed her a handful of drugs?"
Qin Jin’s gaze grew heavy. If he didn’t get someone to feed her the drug, she would sooner or later use it on his wife and child. "She must have offended someone she shouldn’t have. Just leave her be." Whether she was dead or alive was none of his concern.
Li Qiao looked up, intuitively feeling that Qin Jin was responsible.
And Li Jinhua, she deserved it.
When she was home alone the night before last, Li Jinhua might have come over planning to drug her, but unexpectedly, she never opened the door.
When Li Jinhua was healthy, she couldn’t get the better of Li Qiao, let alone now, after they had given birth one after the other, both physically weak. It would have been better if Li Jinhua had come in. Li Qiao could have caught her in the act and had her incarcerated. Now that she thought about it, it was a pity that her plan had failed and the other woman had escaped.
She said, "Evil people don’t need a reason to be wicked, just like last year’s shooting incident. The bystanders had no enmity with the gunman."
Old Mrs. Qin, "That’s true."
......
"Oh, it’s Qixi Festival today. What did Jin give to Qiaoqiao?" Mrs. Tao suddenly said.
Qin Jin, "Do we need to give presents on Qixi?"
Mrs. Tao, "Yes, haven’t you known this is a holiday for several years living in Beijing?"
Qin Jin looked toward Li Qiao, "I didn’t know, did you, Qiaoqiao?"
"I wasn’t paying attention," Li Qiao said. During the first Qixi Festival, she had actually been a little expectant.
Qin Jin hadn’t shown any sign, so she thought that such celebrations weren’t in fashion anymore.
Qin Jin, "The Cowherd and Weaver Girl only meet once a year, I don’t see what there is to celebrate." Meeting only meant parting afterwards. The day was not auspicious.
Old Mrs. Qin took over the conversation, "Today Qiaoqiao officially finished her confinement. Why don’t you and Jin go out for a walk?"
After giving birth, the couple hadn’t spent time alone together, and their relationship needed reinforcement.
Li Qiao agreed with this idea and picked out a plain skirt from the wardrobe to change into in the next room. When she returned, the baby had woken up and was being held by Qin Jin. She approached the baby and said, "Mommy and Daddy will go out for a stroll, you’ll be good at home with Granny today, okay?"
The baby moved its little feet.
Old Mrs. Qin smiled and said, "Baby is so sensible."
Qin Jin was a bit reluctant to let go of the child, rarely speaking out, "I actually wish he’d kick up a fuss. Too obedient a child suffers silently."
Mrs. Tao interjected, "With your conditions, what hardship could he possibly suffer?"
Qin Jin just smiled and didn’t say anything.
He put the child down only after the baby had fallen asleep and took Li Qiao out, "What gift would you like?"
"I don’t need anything," Li Qiao said.
Flowers, there were plenty in the yard.
Gold bracelets, she already had some.
Other jewelry, well, she didn’t have pierced ears, so she couldn’t wear them.
Perhaps only a necklace would be suitable.
She thought casually about it.
To her surprise, Qin Jin really did take her into a jewelry store, where he was interested in a warm-hued pearl necklace.
The asking price was over three hundred.
Li Qiao found it too expensive, "Let’s not buy it. I won’t wear it often."
Qin Jin, "When you’re not wearing it, just keep it."
After trying it on, Li Qiao felt it was quite nice.
The salesperson praised her poise, saying that with the pearl necklace she looked noble and elegant.
Li Qiao faced Qin Jin, "Really?"
Qin Jin, "Truly, but anything matched with you is just gilding the lily."
Li Qiao felt sweet inside. He really had a way with words.
Qin Jin also chose a Floating Flower Jade Bracelet saying, "This kind of bracelet can be worn daily."
Li Qiao tried it on, and it wasn’t bad. "I’ll wear it to school," she decided and put it in the box, wearing only the pearl necklace.
After leaving the jewelry store, she and Qin Jin went to a nearby cinema to watch a movie.
The movie ended at three o’clock.
Qin Jin then took her to see the nearly finished factory.
Li Qiao, "When are we moving in?"
Qin Jin: "We can’t move until the safety measures are done and inspected by the authorities. We have to wait at least three months."
"That long, huh? It’s already been a year." Li Qiao said.
"We need it to be safe for several decades, so the initial security has to be done well."
"...."
....
After accompanying Qin Jin around the garment factory, Li Qiao was heading home when they ran into Liu Er, who called Qin Jin into the shoe factory to handle some business.
It wasn’t on the way for Li Qiao to go home, so he took him into the shoe factory and left him in the office: "Wait for me here. If you get sleepy, you can go to the rest room to sleep."
Li Qiao agreed.
Sitting idly for nearly an hour, the skies outside darkened, and Qin Jin still hadn’t returned.
She opened the door and went out.
The factory was eerily quiet, the workers had finished their shifts.
Only a few janitors remained.
Brother-in-law Song Lin was also there, and he seemed surprised to see Li Qiao: "Qiaoqiao, when did you get here?"
"Over an hour ago. Where’s Jin?"
Song Lin: "I didn’t notice. I’m about to leave. Will you come with me?"
Li Qiao politely declined: "Jin asked me to wait for him, and it’s getting late. You go ahead."
"Alright, just be careful then." After giving his advice, Song Lin left.
Li Qiao wandered around until suddenly the light above the warehouse went out.
The surroundings plunged into darkness.
Li Qiao took a moment to adjust before deciding to head back to the office, when she heard a thud.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Who else was there?
As she turned to move forward, a shadow moved across her field of vision, carrying a distinct white bucket.
The yellow glow in the mouth, was it a cigarette?
The figure looked around.
Li Qiao immediately crouched down.
Then, she saw the figure pouring something over the pile of leather the workers had left behind: "Damn it, humiliating me publically and criticizing me... I’ll burn down your factory."
Li Qiao was shocked. Burn down the factory?
So was the bucket filled with gasoline?
The next second, she indeed smelled diesel fuel.
She moved closer quietly and when the person put down the bucket, she knocked him over from the side with a swift kick.
The man fell to the ground, caught off guard.
Li Qiao seized the opportunity to attack, grabbing the man’s wrist from behind and using her leg to pin down his neck, while shouting loudly for help: "Help! Help!"
"I’m, I’m about to be crushed by you. I need, need help..."
Li Qiao, hearing this, didn’t dare relax her grip, and her shouts for help attracted Qin Jin and Liu Er.
Liu Er fumbled to switch on the lights.
The factory lit up instantaneously, and Qin Jin had already followed the sound to Li Qiao’s side.
Li Qiao was wearing a dress, the hem of which had fallen over the man’s head.
Qin Jin pulled her up in one move.
He made a mental note not to let her wear dresses anymore.
This time, he felt at a loss.
The man broke free from his restraints and stood up, only to be grabbed by the collar by Qin Jin, who demanded coldly: "Cheng Jiu, the finance office closed early, didn’t it? Why haven’t you left?"
He had just finished his work and when he went back to the office and didn’t find Li Qiao, he heard her cries for help and rushed over without thinking. Now smelling diesel fuel, he searched the man’s pockets and pulled out a box of matches.
Li Qiao, pointing at the waste pile, said: "He poured diesel over the materials, and he was smoking too. Thankfully I didn’t kick him directly from behind, or else the fire would have started by now." The entire workshop was full of flammable materials.
If there had been a fire...
Director Qin would have been the first one in trouble.
"Dare to burn down my factory?! Tired of living, aren’t you?" Qin Jin punched the man in the head twice.
Cheng Jiu pleaded for mercy and admitted his fault: "Director Qin, I just lost my mind for a moment, please forgive me."
Qin Jin was furious: "Forgive your mother!" He was grateful his wife was there, otherwise his good days would’ve been over. He instructed Liu Er to find people to clean up the waste, then personally took the man to the police station.
Li Qiao followed to give a statement.
