How I Tamed My Wolfish Husband Back in 80s-Chapter 409 - 411: Full Moon_1
Chapter 409: Chapter 411: Full Moon_1
Inside the room, Li Qiao heard her grandmother’s voice outside and quickly stood up, "Baby, can we open the door now?"
The child shuffled his feet.
Li Qiao found it amusing, "Can you tell who’s the good guy and who’s the bad guy?" But what could Li Jinhua do with the child? She wasn’t worried since her recovery had gone well.
The child continued to kick his little feet.
Li Qiao went out to open the door. "Is Jin back?"
"He hasn’t returned; probably will take another hour or so."
Li Jianguo didn’t enter the room; he turned to leave, and Li Jinhua, holding the child, followed him. With Old Mrs. Qin and Li Qiao at home, it wasn’t convenient to make a move, so it was better to get closer to Li Jianguo.
Li Jianguo walked quickly, to which Li Jinhua said, "Can’t you wait for me?"
Li Jianguo: "Why should I wait for you?"
Li Jinhua was taken aback, "There’s an old saying: ’A couple for a night owes a hundred days of grace...’"
Li Jianguo laughed scornfully, "Who has ever been a couple with you for a night?"
Li Jinhua, failing to charm, resorted to threats, "Do you believe I’ll tell your current fling about our little tryst?"
Li Jianguo laughed at Li Jinhua’s shamelessness, "Give it a try! I’m not the pushover I used to be." With that, he strode off.
Li Jinhua stamped her foot in frustration on the spot.
By the time she returned to the restaurant, everyone had finished eating and dispersed.
She grabbed a staff member, "What about the group that was eating here earlier?"
"They left long ago."
Li Jinhua felt a bloody rage; Li Shengcai always claimed he treated her like his own daughter, yet when she disappeared, he didn’t even bother to look for her. In a panic, she hurried back the way she came, but found herself alone on the streets, growing fearful. Her steps quickened, and she realized something was wrong.
That’s when she discovered she was lost.
She asked around in the nearby households.
Hearing her foreign accent, none of them wished to open the door.
When men opened the door, Li Jinhua feared to engage in much talk, so she endured a night outside. Only at dawn, when she could make out the directions, did she find herself still near the same restaurant.
And when she made it back to the Qin family’s house, the main gate was securely locked.
Neighbors informed her, "Today is the child’s full-moon celebration; the family just left for a banquet at a hotel."
"I just came from the hotel, didn’t see anyone there."
"Their celebration is at the Grand Beijing Hotel. Which hotel did you come from?"
Li Jinhua: "Spring Restaurant. Where’s the Grand Beijing Hotel?"
"That small restaurant is fine for dining with relatives, but for a formal banquet, the Qin family wouldn’t go there." The neighbor kindly directed Li Jinhua to the exact location of the Grand Beijing Hotel.
After thanking the neighbor, Li Jinhua prepared to head there. Upon exiting the alley, she encountered Yu Xiu along with several young people. She immediately called out to sister Yu.
Yu Xiu had heard plenty of criticisms about Li Jinhua from Li Qiao and didn’t think highly of Li Jinhua. She would have ignored her but worried that Li Jinhua, being unfamiliar with the area, might cause trouble, and then upon returning home, the locals would blame Li Qiao for not taking care of her sister.
She signaled Xue Jingyi to stop the car, then asked, "Why are you alone?"
"Third Sister didn’t bring me along," Li Jinhua insinuated that Li Qiao’s hospitality was lacking.
Yu Xiu: "I can’t take you either. Why don’t you wait at the Qin family’s door? I’ll let Li Qiao know at the hotel."
Li Jinhua’s gaze drifted towards Xue Sufen, who was there out of curiosity.
"You’re holding a child; I wouldn’t dare take you," Sufen walked away.
Seeing this, Li Jinhua had no choice but to return to the Qin family’s door to wait.
....
Yu Xiu entered the hotel and did not mention Li Jinhua’s situation to Li Qiao.
Xue Jingyi, who wasn’t very familiar with the grudge between Li Qiao and Li Jinhua, reminded Yu Xiu about the issue with Li Jinhua still being at the Qin house.
Yu Xiu said, "I won’t mention it, and neither should you. Li Qiao’s sister used to cause her a lot of trouble. If she’s alone, it’s either Li Qiao’s doing, or that woman is cooking up some wicked scheme to deal with Li Qiao but ended up failing."
Xue Jingyi: "...Impossible."
"Why would it be impossible? Otherwise, why would everyone think of it and only leave your sister behind? Plus, Li Qiao is busy taking care of the child. Her sisters, her dad, must have some free time, right?"
Xue Jingyi thought about it and saw the logic: "It’s really women who are detail-oriented."
Yu Xiu smiled, "Alright, we just need to sit down and eat."
.....
When the Educated Youths arrived, most of the people were already there.
The child was held by Qin Jin, and they gathered around him, the resemblance between the little one and the big one about seventy to eighty percent.
Everyone marveled at the sight.
It was just before the New Year that they had seen Li Qiao, and now they were meeting her child.
And after giving birth to the child, she looked as if she never had.
Everyone eagerly wanted to hold the baby.
The little one was reluctant, burying his face in Qin Jin’s chest.
Wang Nannan joked, "I don’t believe that when you’re hungry, you’d still cling to your dad."
Qin Jin: "He really does cling to me when he’s hungry." If he wasn’t working, the child could stay in his arms all day long.
Soon after, Shangguan Qingfeng arrived with Zhuang Shu and the family’s Jiayue. Qin Jin went forward to greet them, inviting them to take the seats of honor.
Li Shengcai began to feel dissatisfied again.
There were so many empty seats at the main table, why couldn’t he sit there? He wanted to challenge this.
He was stopped by Li Jianguo: "If you dare to make a scene today, forget asking Jinniu to make money in the future, even you won’t escape breaking a leg." These were Qin Jin’s exact words, which he was asked to convey verbatim.
Li Shengcai was both angry and helpless, drinking sullenly on the side.
...
Li Jiaojiao and Li Jiaoyang sat together, and she looked around before saying, "Why haven’t I seen Jinhua? Didn’t see her last night either."
Li Jiaoyang: "She’s not a three-year-old child, could she get lost or something?"
Li Jiaojiao continued, "The guests Qin Jin is hosting, what kind of status do they have, to even have a car?" Qin Jin himself doesn’t have a car. "The child in his arms also looks familiar."
Li Jiaoyang: "They are the biological parents of the little child he adopted before, haven’t I told you?"
"I didn’t think about the child’s parents from before." Li Jiaojiao sighed, "Qiaoqiao is so lucky, picking up a child whose biological parents turn out to be big shots."
"....."
....
After the full moon celebration had ended.
The guests dispersed. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Li Qiao and Qin Jin stood at the door to see everyone off, the Educated Youths were the last to leave, and since she had just come out of her confinement, she couldn’t accompany them around. Knowing they would leave early the next morning, she stood and caught up with them briefly before they parted ways.
Back home, she saw from afar Li Jinhua sitting on the Qin family’s doorstep holding the baby.
Old Mrs. Qin: "What are you doing here?"
"I got lost after leaving last night, and Sister Yu Xiu..." Li Jinhua recounted her experience from the previous night and her encounter with Yu Xiu.
In her heart, Li Qiao gave Yu Xiu a thumbs-up, thankful she hadn’t called Li Jinhua over.
Today, several of Qin Jin’s business associates had come over, and even Shangguan Qingfeng had taken time out to attend the baby’s full moon celebration; it was a very important occasion. If Li Jinhua had caused trouble, today’s celebration might not have ended well.
Old Mrs. Qin: "We were so busy, how could we think of you? And what on earth were you doing wandering around late at night?" Old Mrs. Qin couldn’t muster sympathy for Li Jinhua and said, "Your baby just turned one month old yesterday. Why would you travel all the way to Beijing? Doesn’t your in-law’s family hold a full month feast for the baby?"
Li Jinhua: "They don’t care for a girl." In truth, she didn’t want the child much herself.
In her previous life, she had sons and daughters, worked hard for them all her life, and what did she get in return?
She truly wanted to abandon the child but had never been able to harden her heart since it was a piece of her own flesh: "I can’t afford to raise her, how about I give her to you to raise?"
