Chapter 244 - Resurrection II

(Drakken's POV)

"Dead?" Jocelyn said softly, "I don't understand. What do you mean, dead?"

As Mya placed a blanket over her to cover her naked body, I gently grabbed her by the chin to move her left to right, inspecting her head to see if she was good.

"Tell me who you are, who your parents are, your family, and where you are from." I said as I leaned in to see her neck, "Now."

"I....I am Lady Jocelyn Baratheon." She said, "Daughter of Rogar Baratheon and Alyssa Velaryon, My brother is Boremund Baratheon.....and I am sister of the King and Queen....Jaehaerys and Alysanne...I am from Storm's End...my Father's seat."

"Hm." I said as I moved my hand to her eyes, opening his eyelids with my finger and leaning in, inspecting her pupils, "Is that so? Anything else?"

"No...." She said, "I am Lady Jocelyn, daughter of Rogar. What do you mean I was dead, who are you?"

"I cannot get any clearer than that; you were dead for two years." I said, "And now you are back. Mya, she seems fine. Her body is the proper temperature, she doesn't seem to have any brain damage nor any other mental affliction.....besides....well."

"What?" Jocelyn asked, "What is it?"

"Your memory. Seems you don't remember how you died. What's the last thing you remember?" I asked her

"I was sitting in my chambers...." She said, "Waiting for my Father....to call me...."

"Hm." I said, "Interesting."

It appears that her entire memory has been scrambled. She knows who she is, she knows who her family is, most of it at least. But she doesn't seem to know the rest of her life after marrying Aemon, I assume. Her memory has been affected and it seems to be.....permanent.

It is like her mind was never messed with to begin with. Typically when a memory is manipulated, I can somewhat see the mental stresses that it causes. But Jocelyn has none of them. The Mind is a fragile thing and manipulating memories causes slight bending that take time to straighten out. She has no bends.

It is as if her entire life was removed completely from her history, her Mind.

That is not good at all.

If Jocelyn, who was preserved in the shade, was affected, then what would happen to Daranne?

"My Lord?" Mya spoke up, "Is this normal?"

"Hm. It appears that she seems to be herself." I said, "The drawbacks I've expected are not present. Typically a serious change of personality and morality happens when people are resurrected but I would be able to say. Her Soul and Mind are intact, she is physically and mentally fine."

"You have not answered my queston!" Jocelyn said, her breath beginning to get labored, "Who are you?! What happened to me?!"

"Calm down." Mya said, "We are here to help you, you need not worry about us."

"No, I demand to know what happened to me!" Jocelyn said as she clutched the blanket around her

"You died in a shipwreck, two years ago." I said as I crossed my arms, "Off the coast of Storm's End. During a conflict in the Stormlands against Essosi. Your Brother, Boremund died in battle shortly after."

"W-What?" She widened her eyes, "That cannot be...!"

"I am not sure about your parents, never met them." I said, "But Boremund was Lord of Storm's End when I met him. That's what we mean by your memory being off and you not remembering how you died...."

"Impossible...." She looked down, "And who are you? How am I alive?"

"This is Lord Drakken." Mya said, "He is the God of War and Death. He brought you back to life."

She looked at me, "God...?"

I tilted my head, "You really don't remember me?"

"No....did we know each other?" She asked

"Somewhat." I said, "I'll leave the details for you to figure out."

"You are a god?" She asked me, "A real god?"

I nodded, "Yes." I said, "I am the one who brought you back but it seems you need time to adjust. Tell me, what did it feel like? Do you remember anything in your time gone?"

"No...." She said, "Well....there was nothing....pitch-black....and a fluttering of wings....black feathers...."

"That was Thanatos." I said, "Those on Death's Side usually see his wings when he's adjusting his position. He is bound to the Shade."

"I...." She frowned, "What?"

"Worry not." I said, "You are safe now. I brought you back for a couple of reasons but you don't have to worry about any of them at the moment. Do answer me this; what do you know of House Targaryen? Besides your siblings."

She blinked, "Well...." She said, "They are the Royal Family. I have two nephews and a niece....."

"Aemon, Baelon, and Alyssa." I said, "Hm, Maegelle? Saera?"

She frowned, "I....I don't know...."

"Interesting." I said, "And focusing on the heir, any particular memory of him?"

"We.....met at a ball...." She said softly, "But that is all I know of the Prince."

I placed my hand on my mouth, covering a smile that crept up on my face, feigning deep thought.

"Fascinating." I said, "Just so you know, your sister decided to pop babies out like a damn rabbit and you have a lot more nieces and another nephew, who is a prick by the way."

She blinked, "What?"

I smirked slightly, "I know, right?" I said, "Pretty crazy. And two of them are above, waiting for me."

"I...." She said softly, "I need to return home. My Family.....what's left of it-"

"Not happening." I cut her off, "See, you were dead two years, your body was buried and you were mourned. If they see you, they will no react the way you would want to. We also need to keep you here, for examination. Being dead a long time has its effects."

"Why...?" She said as she frowned

"Lady Jocelyn, you were dead and brought back through the power of the Trinity, Our Lord's religion." Mya said, "It is because of him, you are here. If he did not wish to bring you back, you would still be dead."

"But...." Jocelyn said, "My Family....."

"You have no family. Not anymore." I told her, "Right now, even if your name is Baratheon, you are nothing but a vestige of the past. People move on, it is cruel.....but its true."

"And you....?" She said, "You are a God? You brought me back?"

"I did." I said, "For reasons that will soon make sense. But.....for now, I want you to understand something....."

"You belong to the Trinity."
