House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men-Chapter 230: The Dragon of War, Sol’Tyr II
Chapter 230 - The Dragon of War, Sol'Tyr II
(Third Person POV)
[Heart's Home]
House Corbray's soldiers were pushed back by the assault of the Duskguard, led by the Lord-Commander, Jon Rivers. They were overwhelmed by the overwhelming power of the Knights, being cut down like they were nothing and as they tried to retreat, their spears impaled them.
Jon, who was clad in armor, pushed forth. He wielded a longsword and a shield, bashing through any man who dared stand in his way. The force of the shield bashes were enough to concuss any Knight he struck and a simple swing of his sword was enough to finish them off.
Several Corbray Knights would rush Jon and swing their swords at him and he would simply raise his shield to take the hits, unfazed. Then, as if it were just a casual action, he would swing his sword to cut through the knight and kill them with ease.
"Keep pushing forth!" Jon commanded, "Take Lord Corbray's head if you need to!"
Arrows flew past Jon and struck several of his fellow knights, but they were unfazed. Jon simply looked up to see the archers on the ramparts, getting ready for another round of arrows.
As they shot arrows at Jon, he raised his shield to block them. The arrows shattered upon impact and Jon simply pointed his sword at them.
"Archers!" He shouted
Without wasting a moment's breath, several Knights drew bows and took aim at the archer, releasing a quick wave of arrows that accurately struck the Corbray archers. As their bodies fell, the Duskguard Archers proceeded to fire arrows at incoming enemies that were barely coming out of the gates.
As several Knights pushed towards the Duskguard, Jon simply rushed them and cut them down; slashing one's neck as he bashed the other with the shield. Spinning around, Jon swung his sword yet again and cut the rest down, leaving one of them left who got skewered by arrows in an instant.
Jon gestured at the gate, and ten Duskguard Knights immediately rushed towards it, two spearmen and the rest swordsmen. The spearmen rushed the exiting enemies and impaled them almost immediately, skewering several men at once as the other Duskguard Knights rushed around and cut the rest down.
As Jon walked towards the gate, he noticed that on one of the castle towers, a single man was watching in pure shock. The man had armor on with the Corbray sigil on the breastplate, watching as the gate was being breached by the Duskguard.
He stopped and looked up, "Lord Corbray, hm?" He said as he pointed his sword at him, "Shoot him down."
A Duskguard archer drew his bow and nocked an arrow, aiming at the Lord who was on the tower. Before he could fire, the Lord immediately ducked out of the way, prompting the archer to relax the bowstring.
"Hm." Jon said, "We'll get him."
He then proceeded to follow the men as they breached the castle, taking down any resisting enemy right away.
He would cut down any Knight that got away from his men, stabbing them in the throat or cutting their chest down.
As they reached the courtyard, the Duskguard would charge towards the Corbray men, brutally killing them with casual swings of their weapons, bashing them with warhammers or cleaving them with their blades.
Jon stood in the middle of the courtyard as he looked around, "Get me the Lord of this Seat!" he shouted, "Prepare a room for the prisoners! Do not touch a hair on the women, Our Lord's orders!"

"Curse you, Duskguard bastards!!!!" Lord Corbray shouted as he was pushed to the ground, "His Grace, the King, will not allow this to go unpunished!!"
Jon stood in front of him, "Unfortunately for all of you." He said, "House Targaryen is too terrified to act. They are well aware that our power is too great. What you've witnessed today was the might of the Duskguard. You stand no chance."
Lord Corbray spat on the ground, "I will have my vengeance!" He said, "Mark my words, the gods will strike your false god down!!"
"They can try." Jon said, "But they will fail. Our Lord is too great of a power to be moved, you will never comprehend. It is a shame, House Corbray could have been a fine addition to our ranks....but Our Lord has not commanded it....Look around you, only corpses remain."
Lord Corbray looked around, seeing the bloody sight of his men's corpses piled up on the courtyard.
"Tch...." He said, "You will live to regret this."
"I don't think so." Jon said, "The Duskguard will not-"
He was cut off by a loud rumbling and the ground shaking.
He turned back to see that the armor and weapons of the fallen soldiers began to float as a black flame-like aura began to seep through the ground and into the air.
"The Battlefield..." A voice said, "My Duskguard love to ravage it.....leaving nothing behind....."
As the weapons and armor began to take the form of grotesque dragon wings, Jon saw as a bright white orb of light appeared in the middle of the air, where the wings were attaching themselves.
He widened his eyes, "You....."
"My brutal knights...." Sol'tyr said, "I have manifested myself in this form to give a command. Spare this House and its men. Force them to convert and add to the Duskguard. It is the only chance we'll give them."
Lord Corbray watched this in confusion, "W-what the hell is this?" he said, "An illusion???"
Jon and all of the Duskguard present got to one knee, the collective sound of their armor clanking resounded through the courtyard.
"O' Great Lord of War." Jon said as he was looking down, "We are graced by your presence, Sol'Tyr."
"Lord-Commander Jon Rivers." Sol'Tyr said, "It appears you have gone long unrewarded."
"My Lord?" Jon asked as he looked up, "What do you mean?"
"You have conquered The Riverlands on Drakken's behalf.." Sol'Tyr said, "You, who were named Rivers....have proven yourself worthy and loyal."
"My Lord....I...." Jon said
"I speak on behalf of Drakken." Sol'Tyr continued, "As a reward of spreading my War across all the land....I hereby name you Riversbane. Jon Riversbane. A fitting name for the deeds you've done. Thousands of Rivermen have bled by your hand and now thousands of Valemen will suffer the same fate."
"My Lord, Great Sol'Tyr." Jon said, "You honor me...." freewebnøvel.coɱ
"That will be your House from now on. It has been long overdue." Sol'Tyr said, "And as my first task for you.....I require you to find a Vessel. A vessel for myself to walk these lands and guide the Trinity. I require powerful bodies.....gather them for me to test."
"I leave it to you."
