High School of Demon Hunting-Chapter 357 - 26 The Door God’s Philosophy of Life_1
Chapter 357: Chapter 26 The Door God’s Philosophy of Life_1
"Ladies and gentlemen."
A voice abruptly rose in the hospital ward, interrupting the lively atmosphere in front of the two hospital beds.
Zheng Qing propped himself up and followed the gazes of the crowd to see a familiar figure standing at the door of the ward.
It was Professor Yao of the Spell class.
Or rather, the revered Dean of Jiuyou Academy.
He held a pipe in one hand, while his other arm cradled a few books. His face was full of jovial laughter.
Seemingly aware of their puzzled eyes, Professor Yao lifted his wrist, feigning to check his watch, then raised his head and chuckled:
"It’s almost ten o’clock in the evening... You can choose to be locked out by Grandpa Niwu, or you can go downstairs now to Mrs. Bella and get a visitor’s application form and a sleeping bag for tonight..."
Is it that late already?
Zheng Qing turned his head in surprise to look out of the window.
The rain outside had stopped at some point, the clouds had cleared, stars were scattered across the sky, and through the tree branches, the fresh moon revealed half of her bright face.
The ward erupted into chaos.
The group of males from Jiuyou Academy in front of Zheng Qing’s bed were naturally quite intimidated by their dean, wishing they could disappear immediately. In contrast, the witches in front of Lin Guo’s bed seemed much more composed, and even formally bowed to Old Yao before leaving.
When only the three of them were left in the ward, Old Yao first approached Lin Guo, gently and softly comforting the young wizard for a few minutes. Then he told him to sleep early and pulled the curtains back around the bed.
Zheng Qing curled up in bed, mumbling to himself whether he should also draw the curtains.
"How do you feel?" Old Yao came up to Zheng Qing’s bed, pulled over a chair, and sat down.
"I feel fine... The doctor said I could be discharged tomorrow morning," Zheng Qing answered truthfully.
"And here?" Old Yao tapped his head with the pipe.
"I didn’t feel anything abnormal... I think." Zheng Qing said uncertainly at the end: "I don’t know if it’s an illusion... but I always feel a swelling sensation in my right eye."
"Right-eye?" Old Yao’s eyebrow raised, one of his eyes widened and he asked seriously: "Is it the legendary ’eye of the demon’?"
What the hell is the eye of the demon!
Zheng Qing felt his face lined with confusion.
"Hahaha, I’m just joking... Don’t be so nervous." Old Yao chuckled, lifted the cost student’s eyelid to take a look, and confidently said, "It’s just a bit bloodshot... Most of those brats in Starry Sky school have swollen eyes, yet I have not seen any hunting team charging up and calling for a fight... Don’t let those baseless rumors outside disturb you."
Zheng Qing blinked, feeling touched in his heart.
"And that little guy in that bed over there!" Old Yao turned sideways, looked towards Lin Guo’s bed, and raised his voice slightly, "Just passed out from the impact of demon’s aura... What’s the big deal! I’ll buy you some Amber Light later, and you’ll be a real man when the sun rises after you sweat it out under the covers! At such a young age, don’t be so disheartened like an old man..."
Zheng Qing couldn’t help but crack a silent smile.
From Lin Guo’s bed concealed by curtains came a sniffle. After a few minutes, a somewhat mumbling voice echoed, "I’m not disheartened... I just have a cold. And, I’m not an adult yet, I can’t drink."
"Milk tea, I meant milk tea!" Old Yao immediately corrected himself, laughing heartily, "Next time I visit your castle for a lecture, I’ll bring you some steaming Mongolian milk tea... Now close your eyes and go to sleep!"
"Oh!" Lin Guo’s loud response came from behind the curtains.
"As for you," Old Yao turned back, again sizing up the young cost student, "I was planning to take you to see Professor Yi today to discuss that matter..."
As he spoke, he tapped his head with the pipe again and added, "But given what happened last night..."
"It’s okay, I can go find Professor Yi by myself." Zheng Qing hastened to reply.
"It’s not that I don’t have the time," Yao waved his hand, and carefully said, "It’s just that the conservative treatment plan I previously discussed with Professor Yi doesn’t seem quite suitable anymore... Hmm, I recall you have a divination class next Tuesday?"
"Tuesday morning." Zheng Qing quickly added.
"Yes, Tuesday morning, after class, follow Professor Yi to his office, he will make further arrangements for you...including developing talents involving vision, and how to stabilize your mental power field."
Zheng Qing nodded repeatedly, without any doubt.
"I just came today to mention this to you... Remember, after the divination class on Tuesday!" Old Yao didn’t continue to chat, but stood up, pulled at his robes, and planned to leave: "...No need to get up, rest soon."
As he spoke, he pressed the young scholarship student who was trying to get up, held up his pipe, signaled the guardian elves to bring him those few books.
"Remember, don’t be late for class tomorrow morning!" He warned with a smile before leaving.
"I absolutely won’t be, sir!" Zheng Qing quickly promised.
...
...
After leaving the school hospital, the smile on Professor Yao’s face disappeared quickly.
He did not return to the professor’s quarters located in the East Peach Garden, nor did he go to the Dean’s office in the office building. Instead, he walked through a few crisscrossing corridors and came to a small, low three-story building. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
The building looked a bit old, with patches of wall paper hanging on the gray walls. Large patches of uneven moss stuck to it, making it look somewhat ugly and inexplicably tranquil.
Turning past a dark corridor, the professor came to a pair of double wooden doors.
Above the door frame were two Door Gods, wielding magical artifacts and stepping on auspicious clouds, with stern faces, carefully patrolling back and forth over a three-foot square piece of paper.
Underneath them, a white cat that usually showed laziness was now standing upright with its tail, its eyes wide open, and its pointed teeth slightly exposed at the corners of its mouth.
"Door." Professor Yao raised his eyelids slightly.
"Password!" God Tu thumped his halberd and shouted.
"Open the door!" Old Yao squinted his eyes, his expression somewhat cold.
"Pass..." God Tu hadn’t finished speaking when his mouth was covered by his companion.
"Ahem, we all know each other, no need for a password!" Yu Lei pulled his brother back and complained repeatedly: "Didn’t you see it was Dean Yao in person... you deserve to be relegated to mere doorkeeping!"
As he spoke, he pulled at the door handle, opened the tightly closed doors, and showed a pleasing smile: "Please!"
Old Yao stared deeply at the two fellows and did not immediately step into the door.
One minute.
Two minutes.
Three minutes.
After staring at them until the two Door Gods’ bodies felt numb, Old Yao finally stepped over the threshold.
"A real door god, even if torn into pieces, would still ask for effective identification from those who want to enter." The dean’s light voice floated into the ears of the two Door Gods with the breeze, causing the hard paper they were attached to to buzz.
His tone was very flat, but the displeasure within it was clearly felt even by the white cat painted on the page.
The white cat’s tail drooped to the ground, sweeping restlessly from side to side.
Yu Lei’s face looked somewhat gloomy.
But a few minutes later, his mood improved significantly.
"You always adjust your mood so quickly." God Tu hugged his halberd, full of envy in his tone.
"Who are we? We’re Door Gods!" Yu Lei picked up the white cat at his feet, stroked its fur, and proudly said, "No matter how important the person at the door, when we say ’enter’, they can only enter... what if we have to eat some praise? ...among all those high-class wizards in the world, who hasn’t eaten a bit of Rain God’s praise?!"
