Gospel of Blood-Chapter 635 : History and Script
Torrential rain poured down, as if the sky and sea themselves were weeping.
The colossal beast had completely vanished, and the shattered Luna Island, inundated by seawater, was slowly sinking into the abyss. Its towering spires collapsed one after another, resembling gravestones for the Gods.
The projection of the Gospel of Blood flickered with an illusory light in Charlotte’s hands, illuminating her soul.
Charlotte silently watched the scene unfold, feeling as though she had lost yet another friend who could converse with her as an equal.
Her unique identity as a transmigrator made it difficult to forge equal friendships.
People either gazed at her with awe or approached her with ulterior motives. Ironically, the relationships she had formed with those she encountered during her journey through history were purer.
Oceanus was a prime example. Their friendship, initiated by her, had grown deep despite the brief years they spent together during her traversal through history.
Within her, the vast power of the ocean churned. Guided by the Gospel of Blood, it swiftly merged with her blood divine power, transforming into Charlotte’s own strength.
This was Oceanus’s final gift to her.
At this moment, Charlotte felt she was no longer merely the Progenitor of the Bloodborne. She was also… the Ruler of the Oceans.
Yet, there was little joy in her heart.
Taking a deep breath, she gazed at the trident’s insignia, which was gradually transforming from the emblem of the Sea God to one of thorny rose. She murmured sadly.
“I’ll bury your conch on the golden beaches of the Western Continent…”
Platinum divine power spread behind Charlotte.
Amid a ripple of spatial distortion, the elderly figure of the Guardian Scepter gradually emerged.
Upon witnessing the sinking Luna Island amidst the vast ocean, the wisdom artifact’s eyes widened instantly.
“What?! Luna Island… has collapsed so soon?!”
Charlotte glanced at the visibly shaken Guardian Scepter. Her exquisite features betrayed no emotion as she asked.
“Luna Island… Did it sink in the previous timeline as well?”
“Yes, Your Majesty, in the last timeline, it sank following your divine battle with that one…”
The Guardian Scepter nodded respectfully.
However, as it raised its gaze, it quickly sensed a change in Charlotte’s aura, its body trembling violently.
Shock and delight rapidly filled the Guardian Scepter’s expression. Overwhelmed with excitement, it exclaimed.
“Wait… Your Majesty! Have you… have you tamed the ocean divine power?!”
“Tamed?”
Charlotte frowned.
She found the term offensive, even though the affront was not directed at her.
“Indeed! I seem to feel the ocean divine power within you. Have you comprehended its laws? That’s amazing! Truly amazing! This is a power you didn’t possess in the previous timeline!”
The Guardian Scepter was brimming with enthusiasm.
But Charlotte picked up on a problem.
“You said… comprehended?” she asked.
“Yes?”
The Guardian Scepter noticed something amiss in Charlotte’s expression.
Seeing its puzzled look, Charlotte had a faint realization. After a brief pause, she asked.
“Guardian Scepter, has there ever been a God in Myria’s history who mastered the ocean laws?”
The Guardian Scepter decisively shook its head.
“Of course not. Although the ocean divine power is immense, it is not a creation of the Creator God during the world creation. Thus, it has always been difficult to birth a God associated with it. You… are likely the first.”
Charlotte fell silent instantly.
Oceanus… had been forgotten.
Just like Lilith before him.
Only she, a transmigrator from another world holding the Gospel of Blood, remembered that he had once existed.
Charlotte did not know whether her memory of him was due to her status as an outsider or the fully restored power of the Gospel of Blood.
But she knew that when a God was forgotten by the world, it signified total, irrevocable annihilation.
At least… I still remember him. As long as I remember him, perhaps one day, I can awaken him from endless slumber.
Charlotte thought so.
But this self-consolation brought her no comfort.
Her heart felt stifled, unbearably so.
It was akin to how she felt when she ascended to true Godhood.
Back then, it seemed she too had forgotten something, much like the Guardian Scepter now.
But she couldn’t recall what it was she had forgotten.
Could she have also forgotten another myth?
But she clearly remembered Oceanus…
Perhaps… it’s because my power has been growing too fast. Ever since I arrived at the Theocracy, my strength has been expanding like a balloon. Even my control over divine power has kept pace.
Such rapid growth naturally brings unease.
Charlotte sighed inwardly.
Power advancements should be exhilarating.
But when they come so rapidly and constantly, to the point where one’s control barely keeps up, the feeling becomes something else entirely.
It became a sense of instability, a lack of grounding.
Even as she entertained bold, absurd, and groundbreaking theories about the changes within her, Charlotte could not quell this unease.
After all… theories were just theories. To prove them, she needed evidence, and Charlotte currently had neither the opportunity nor the means to test them.
Her gaze swept over the Guardian Scepter, and the faint warning voice from the void seemed to echo in her ears once more.
“Harald’s followers… cannot be trusted.”
Charlotte did not know why this thought suddenly surfaced.
Her expression grew complex, and her tone turned somber as she asked.
“Guardian Scepter, am I… truly walking along a path already scripted?”
The Guardian Scepter hesitated for a moment and replied.
“Your Majesty, the True Ancestor, while history cannot be changed, we… can deceive it. Although the time left to us is growing shorter, as long as we act faster and seize the initiative, we will surely be able to defeat Them!”
“Seize the initiative, huh…”
Charlotte murmured to herself.
“Is this also what Harald told you?”
She looked at the staff.
But this time, the Guardian Scepter shook its head.
“No, this is what you told me.”
Charlotte was slightly surprised.
“The me from the previous timeline?” freewēbnoveℓ.com
The Guardian Scepter respectfully bowed its head.
Seeing its reverent demeanor, Charlotte lost the interest to inquire further.
She could sense that the Scepter was likely hiding something from her.
However, she did not fully trust it either.
“Harald’s followers cannot be trusted.”
Charlotte always remembered this warning that seemed to echo from the depths of her consciousness.
Yet, contrary to the warning, every time she secretly used her powers to observe, the conclusions always showed that the Guardian Scepter was sincere and harmless toward her.
Her power far exceeded the Scepter’s. If she wished, she could erase its sentience at any time. However, due to the unique nature of this wisdom artifact, she could not forcibly read its memories.
She wasn’t sure whether she could trust her own observations.
Instinct told her that her observations were accurate.
But another instinct told her that the warning… was also correct.
Two conflicting judgments clashed in her mind, and Charlotte could only think of one explanation: a force of a higher order than her own was influencing everything.
“Could it be… the Creator’s Will?”
Charlotte pondered in her heart.
Predetermined history, immutable fate, and an almost cheat-like rapid growth in strength—all seemed to be propelling her forward at an extraordinary pace.
Even the Creator’s Will itself seemed to be deliberately enabling this.
Charlotte could vaguely guess why.
Just as a giant would not care about the struggles of an ant, even as a true God at the pinnacle of myth, Charlotte could still feel the vast gap between herself and the entity known as “Creator.”
The stronger she became, the more she could comprehend the extraordinary power required to create an entire world and spawn countless myths.
Yet, this incomparably powerful entity still incited puppet-like Gods such as Helios to hunt her down and target her.
A giant wouldn’t bother with an ant’s growth.
If it did, it could only mean that the ant might pose a threat to it.
And this… could very well be Charlotte’s opportunity to overturn fate and alter the predetermined conclusion.
As for the claim that history cannot be changed… To be honest, after witnessing the eternal slumber of Oceanus, Charlotte had begun to entertain a slightly different perspective.
“Oceanus has fallen, its existence erased, and its traces wiped from history.”
“From that perspective, hasn’t history already been altered?”
“Unchangeable… Is that really history?”
“Or is history merely a script written by the Creator’s Will?”
Charlotte fell into deep thought.
…
Upon returning from Luna Island, Charlotte’s mood was heavy.
Sebastian, who had also learned the fate of Luna Island, was equally somber. The elven steward remained silent for a long time before uncharacteristically requesting a leave of absence from Charlotte.
“He’s probably feeling pretty bad. If you truly want to comfort him, you should go now.”
Charlotte said to Ancia, the Pure White Witch, who had followed her to the Starfall Kingdom and now appeared restless.
The Pure White Witch’s expression stiffened slightly. In the end, she bowed respectfully to Charlotte and hurriedly left the palace.
Charlotte gently shook her head.
The Pure White Witch had pursued Sebastian across half the continent.
For a long time, Charlotte thought the two were mortal enemies. However, after visiting the Coria Kingdom, she learned that their relationship was actually a twisted fate.
Everyone has their moments of romance, and Sebastian, the elf, was no exception. The Vadallat Clan had always been liberal, and the two did indeed share a history.
As for the subsequent pursuit, it was nothing more than a chase born of this twisted fate.
The curse lingering in Sebastian’s body seemed frightening, but after ascending to a true God, Charlotte had seen through everything.
The so-called “bloodline curse” had long ceased to function as the Blood Prince’s original intent. Instead, it had evolved into a mark that the Vadallat bloodborne used to “hunt down” unfaithful lovers.
As for the “curse” itself… it wasn’t all that terrifying. Lowering one’s head and apologizing could dispel it.
After all, if they truly wanted a certain red-haired elf dead, the bloodbornes had countless curses capable of achieving that, and the Coria Kingdom, capable of rivaling the Holy Court, would never have allowed someone who “defiled” their saintess to live until now.
After Ancia left, Charlotte began contemplating the “future prophecy” she had seen in the Coria Kingdom.
“The one awakening the Creator’s Will at the Sun Altar… is not an elf from Luna Island. Luna Island was corrupted by the Origin Malice a hundred years ago. So where do the elves from those visions come from?”
“The only stronghold of pure-blooded elves on the Myria continent is Luna Island. Elsewhere, interbreeding with humans has long formed half-elven settlements. Could those visions be of the Western Continent?”
“However, none of the scenes in those visions have manifested yet. Could they… not be a predetermined ‘future’ either?”
Charlotte pondered silently.
At that moment, she suddenly sensed a familiar bloodline presence. With a thought, she realized it was a bloodborne visitor.
It was a bloodborne of the Nez Clan, the Great Elder of the Council of Elders, Duke Roan.
Soon after, a guard delivered a message.
“Your Majesty, Duke Roan seeks an audience.”
“Let him in.”
Charlotte said.
Shortly, Duke Roan, dressed indistinguishably from the nobles of Starfall, entered the palace.
He bowed respectfully to Charlotte and said,
“Your Majesty, the True Ancestor, the Saintess of Prophecy, Eugenia… has awakened.”
