Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire-Chapter 244 - 170: Enfeoffing the Various Dragons, The Lord of 100 Dragons
Chapter 244: Chapter 170: Enfeoffing the Various Dragons, The Lord of 100 Dragons
The Golden Dragon was enthusiastic about managing his own territory, and it wasn’t just him who was full of drive; the majority of the Dragon Species within the Metallic Dragon Race were very interested in this, too.
Both the Silver Dragon and the Bronze Dragon were keen to be involved in the construction of society’s order and the establishment of legal rules within human-like civilizations.
The Brass Dragon and Red Copper Dragon also loved to join this kind of excitement, thinking they could contribute constructive opinions.
Even though the Golden Dragon had not yet officially recruited officials, just some gossipy little fairy accidentally leaked some rumors, and dragons proactively came forward.
"Mr. President, do I look like a governor to you?"
The High Elf with silver hair shimmering under the sunlight spun gently before the Golden Dragon, luxurious robes swirling with an exotic fragrance.
"Not bad, quite authoritative."
Noah looked at the Silver Moon Elf in front of him and gave a fair assessment.
"When will you issue me the appointment letter?"
Silver Dragon Annabelle’s bright eyes were full of great expectation.
"Appointment letter for what?"
"Didn’t you say I looked like a governor? Then hire me; I can definitely manage your territory well."
"I don’t need a governor. If you want to manage a territory for a great noble, I can write you a recommendation letter."
Noah couldn’t help but chuckle. Although some of the news was spread by the little fairies he directed, the fellow race members who came to him were rather forward.
Even though it was just a territory with only a few hundred thousand people, appointing a Silver Dragon as a governor seemed an underuse of talent, but this was the territory of the Ancestral Golden Dragon.
"Only you are worthy of my following!"
Annabelle immediately said.
As a proud Silver Dragon, she must be under someone completely above her, someone she could look up to, and in Annabelle’s understanding, only the Golden Dragon before her held such a qualification.
"You want to follow me?"
Noah instantly caught the key point. Although he already had three fellow followers under his command, they were all Copper Dragons. To the Golden Dragon, their strength was too weak, and he didn’t know what to assign to them.
Of course, this wasn’t their fault; it was due to Noah because his bloodline had evolved continuously, causing the Golden Dragon to leapfrog ahead, surpassing his peers.
"If you appoint me as governor, I am willing to follow your lead."
Annabelle stated solemnly.
"Ah, there are prerequisites!"
Even though the Silver Dragon had put forward a condition, the Golden Dragon was nevertheless delighted. It’s normal to have preconditions; expect a dragon to work for free?
"So if I fulfill your demand, then cancel your appointment, will you give up following and choose to leave?"
"It depends on how you arrange things for me."
"Let me think about it."
The Golden Dragon didn’t ask about the duration of her following because Silver Dragons are notably capricious; if interested, they can serve indefinitely.
But if feeling undervalued, thinking their talents are unexercised and desires unsatisfied, they would certainly leave without hesitation—that’s how Silver Dragons are.
Free-spirited and doing as they please, it’s this personality that has caused some Silver Dragons to leave behind numerous intriguing tales in human-like civilized societies.
"Let me confirm, as long as I appoint you as my governor, you will become my follower?"
"Indeed."
The Silver Dragon’s gaze was bright, her eyes full of confidence,
"As long as you, Mr. President, entrust the people of your territory to me, I will definitely lead them to prosperity."
"On my territory, there are currently nearly half a million people. Are you sure you can manage so many?"
"Of course."
"A governor managing half a million people? I agree to your condition, but I need to adjust slightly to make the arrangement."
"You agreed?"
A chilling air spread in the space, with ethereal white mist wafting around the young girl. The Silver Dragon, due to heightened excitement, inadvertently released some of her power.
"That’s right; be ready!"
The Golden Dragon’s eyes revealed a smile.
Exchanging a territory inhabited by only half a million for the following of a Silver Dragon is a highly beneficial trade, and most importantly, the territory and populace needn’t necessarily be provided by him.
Shortly after the Silver Dragon stepped aside, Noah penned a letter directly to Tidel, requesting land from the New King.
Inside the letter, Noah poured out his woes about the barrenness and desolation of his territory, before confidently demanding prosperous cities and lands in return.
A Dragon with legendary combat prowess asking the ruler for a fief—any ruler with a functioning brain would meet such a request, let alone one like Tidel, who acquiesced readily to Noah’s wishes.
Tidel, with a grand gesture, not only fulfilled Noah’s requirements but even offered lands far beyond the Golden Dragon’s expectations. However, once Noah took a look at the land map, he couldn’t help but curse,
"The old fellow never learns!"
Though Tidel was indeed generous to Noah, he didn’t intend for Noah to have it too easy, since the new fiefs allocated to Noah, besides a few small plains and basins bordering the Elidis Mountain, included many enclaves.
Without exception, these enclaves are highly disputed territories, and are one of the primary reasons for the continual delay in the establishment of the New Kingdom.
