Chapter 76: Taekwondo

Cecilia was startled and quickly sped up to the school.

What kind of trouble could Emma, that fearless little rascal, have caused?

‘Don’t tell me it’s going to be like when we were abroad again, where she defeated everyone in the neighborhood without a single match?’

Rushing to the school, Cecilia walked into the office and saw Emma pretending to be foolish.

Her drool was going all over the place.

She was relieved. Knowing Emma, she was definitely pretending.

The teacher, upon seeing Cecilia, nervously approached.

"Emma’s mom, you’re here."

Cecilia didn’t rush to check on Emma, but she first asked the teacher.

"What happened?"

As she said this, she walked over to Emma. She lightly placed her fingers on Emma’s neck, and Emma quickly signaled her mom on her leg.

Two short taps, one long.

Cecilia understood her signal, confirming that Emma was indeed pretending.

But why was she pretending to be foolish?

The teacher wiped her sweat and explained everything truthfully.

"This afternoon during Taekwondo class, Kenny has always been the class leader. So, after demonstrating some basic moves, he began guiding the other kids. However, Emma kept pointing out that his move had a flaw, which Kenny refused to admit. He felt embarrassed..."

She glanced at the stubborn-looking Kenny sitting nearby.

Cecilia followed the gaze and saw a chubby little boy with crossed arms, looking like a critical little adult.

"Kenny loves teaching other kids and has quite an ego. Being called out by Emma for having imperfect moves angered him, so he pushed her. Who knew that after falling, she would get up and start acting like this?"

Cecilia understood. Emma had been learning Taekwondo with her, and even if she wasn’t particularly diligent, her talent was exceptional. She wouldn’t just claim a move was flawed unless it truly was.

However, kids had their squabbles. The main concern now was that Emma was pretending to be foolish. Cecilia had told her not to attract too much attention, but it didn’t mean she needed to act like this.

That drooling was really too much...

Thinking of this, Cecilia shook her head in resignation and picked Emma up, preparing to leave.

However, an unfriendly voice suddenly rang.

"Does our school accept just any student? With such poor physical condition, it’s better to keep them in a greenhouse."

Cecilia frowned and looked in the direction of the voice, seeing a man similar to Kenny who also had his arms crossed.

The teacher was wiping her cold sweat, not daring to look at anyone.

Every person here was important.

Cecilia had a guess but needed more clarity, so she asked the teacher.

"Who is he?"

The teacher whispered, "He’s Kenny’s father, John Brut. He works here as a special Taekwondo instructor and only shows up when Kenny has class..."

While she was still explaining, John was already striding over.

He began, "For this year’s provincial Taekwondo competition, well, I think your school’s slots are off the table now."

The teacher saw Cecilia’s confusion and continued, "A lot of schools fight for a slot in the provincial Taekwondo competition, and Mr. Brut is one of the judges. Many parents want their kids to participate in the experience and ask them for slots."

Cecilia understood, realizing where Kenny got his snobbish attitude.

Like father, like son.

John, oblivious to Cecilia’s darkened expression, continued speaking, "After all, if your school is full of only talentless and fragile kids, participating would just be embarrassing."

Talentless? Fragile?

Ridiculous! freeωebnovēl.c૦m

This was the first time anyone had used such terms for Emma.

She turned around.

"Her talent far exceeds your son’s."
