Chapter 108: 108 Practical Class.

Silence enveloped the entire field as all eyes were gathered on the black-haired boy, holding a bokuto.

Jin’s emerald eyes swept over his classmate, especially toward the four individuals who suddenly emerged like a mushroom in the wild.

Kain, Kael, Sereth, and Tania. He disregarded Tania, for she had a reason and purpose in her existence, but he was not sure what the other three’s roles were.

One of them—or maybe three of them — could be a sinister person who planned something hideous behind that facade of students.

That’s why Jin wanted to make sure that, at least during the time of the incoming conflict, he could deal with it in advance before it escalated into something worse.

From the corner of his vision, Jin saw the girl’s glimmering azure eyes blinking in anticipation, waiting for her name to be called.

He gulped and averted his gaze elsewhere toward the four unfamiliar classmates. The four exchanged glances before one of the twins, who had a rough appearance, shot a glare his way.

The brown haired boy, with a messy appearance, stepped forward.

"What is this? To think a teacher in this academy was so weak to let his student do the testing, what a disappointment".

His words laced with poison, his lifted gaze and chest puffed out, telling of what kind of personality he was.

The other twin exhaled sharply, shaking his hand sideways while covering his expression with a palm.

"You are Kael, right?". Dannan, who stood next to Jin, asked.

He looked over the boy named Kael from head to toe, nodding in silent understanding. Then, the man turned to Jin, giving an unknowing smile before stepping out from the field to join his students.

"Heh, coward". Kael spat, his words directed at the retreating figure of the man.

On the other hand, the other twins approached the man with their heads slightly bowed downward, apologizing for their brother’s conduct.

While the others had their situation, Jin calmly stood undeterred under the glaring sun like a mountain.

His emerald pupils stared right through the boy before him. Jin meticulously captured everything, from his posture to his breathing to even a slight twitch in his muscles.

"So, you are the first in our generation, huh?". Kael’s lips parted in a curious smirk, then he turned his attention toward Jin’s hand.

The boy’s expression twisted into a hideous frown. He spat on the ground. "What was that? Are you the same as those beasts?"

"Kael, that’s enough".

The brother shouted from behind. His refined face crumpled in deep anger, seeing his brother’s untamed attitude.

"Shut up, Kain". Kael opened his palm, and a real sword manifested from thin air.

It was a longsword, with a silver blade shimmering under the light and a black handle adorned with golden intricacy.

"Kael, you!".

Blood rushed toward Kain’s head, showing a bulging vein that kept twitching since his little brother drew a real sword.

His legs unknowingly moved forward, but halted as a hand blocked his narrowed sight.

The boy turned to the side and widened his eyes. "Teacher, why did you stop me?".

Dannan’s gaze didn’t register his existence as he kept facing forward toward the middle. "Just watch".

After those words spilled from his mouth, Kain twisted his neck sideways to gauge the other students’ reaction. Strangely, they all had a serene expression except for Tania and him.

’What is happening?’. Kain bit his lips, turning his attention toward the middle with clenched fists, ready to draw his sword anytime to stop his brother.

Jin glanced at the sword with a cold glint in his gaze. He gripped his bokuto hilt with both hands and prepared his middle stance.

Kael gripped the sword hilt and lifted it as it rested on his shoulder. "Hurry up and take out your sword! I don’t want to be seen bullying you...".

"Enough yapping, the others are waiting for their turn".

Jin’s condensed tone sent a cold chill through the bright area. The other students and Danna gulped, for they felt a tingling sensation crawl on their skin.

Kael’s pupil dilated; never in his life had he been treated as insignificant in other people’s eyes.

He was hailed as a prodigy, holder of the mighty talent in swordsmanship, and had to be looked down on by others.

His glare intensified, and a tremor ran through his body, narrowing his vision.

"I’ll kill you". Kael snapped, his voice was low, filled with murderous intent.

Jin was unaffected and kept his stance steady. When he blinked, his opponent entered his sword range, standing before him condescendingly.

A silver blade thrusted at his neck. Jin slightly tilted to the side, dodging the attack as he slipped to the left and swung his bokuto to incapacitate Kael’s right elbow.

But his opponent was agile and retracted his hand with speed nearly incomparable to his vision. ’Good reaction speed’.

Jin leaned his body sideways, avoiding the incoming slash that cut through the air seamlessly.

"Tch, slippery bastard". Kael clicked his tongue and hurled a barrage of attacks at Jin.

Kael’s swordsmanship was heavy but lacked refinement, as evidenced by the way he fought, which still utilized his instinctive reflexes.

Each time Jin plotted to counter, his opponent’s body twitched and moved away from the impending danger.

Jin was impressed by Kael’s gift, but sadly, his rotten personality overshadowed his overwhelming talent.

Based on his impression of him, Jin had already lost hope in developing the guy into an essential asset to help prevent something from happening in the future.

’I’d rather train those two Demi-humans than him. ’ Jin tensed his grip on the hilt and raised the stake a bit.

He broke free from his defensive stance and relentlessly attacked Kael. As expected, every time Jin wanted to land a blow, his opponent’s body twisted unnaturally, like having no bones, and launched a counter.

But if a direct approach was unusable, he mixed his attack with a feint. He swung his bokuto downward and infused it with a bit of his intent.

When Kael’s attention was upward, Jin naturally bent his knees, brought his bokuto to a level with his face, and struck Kael’s right flank.

A dull ’thud’ resounded across the field, turning Kael’s face grim in blue. The boy’s breath halted as a burning sensation scorched his lungs each time he inhaled.

But, Jin didn’t stop as he retracted his bokuto downward, and thrust it upward, hitting Kael’s lower jaw with an unnerving ’crack’.

His opponent’s body flew midair, eyes rolled to the back as he lost consciousness. Kael’s body slammed to the ground, convulsing.

A deafening silence descended into the field. All eyes were gathered on the unconscious body, and Jin, who straightened his posture, exhaled calmly.

"Lily?".

Within this silence, his voice howled like a thunderous roar, jolting the pink-haired girl, who had tears accumulated in her eyes.

"Y-Yes". Lily stammered, but soon understood what Jin was implying.

She nodded and ran toward Kael’s lying body. The girl choked on her breath when she saw the bone on Kael’s lower jaw, split into two.

Lily gulped her saliva. She extended both trembling hands and infused them with mana to cast a healing spell.

A golden particle sprinkled atop Kael’s face, and a miracle happened as if turning back time. His crushed lower jaw mended itself before returning to normal.

"Huff, healing done". Lily wiped the unnoticed sweat and stood up, gazing toward Jin while raising her thumb.

"Thank you". Jin nodded, then turned his attention toward the other students.

They flinched upon meeting his gaze; even Kain, who was irritated at first by his brother’s behaviour, took a hostile action with a hardened expression.

He turned toward Tania. Her large blue eyes shook, unable to conjure a response. But her body was moving on its own, and she walked toward his place.

"Tania was it?". Jin asked, prompting the girl to nod her head.

With a wave from her hand, a wooden staff with an emerald jewel embedded on its top shone brilliantly.

Tania struck the staff base and let the jewel gleam ominously, pulling away the surrounding wind to gather at her side.

"Let’s have a nice match".

Without saying anything, Jin stored his bokuto and carefully tapped the primal mana in the atmosphere.

The atmosphere shook, followed by an oppressive aura that descended, enveloping the entire field with suffocating pressure.

A magic circle that shone green emerged from behind Jin.

"Come, Tania, let’s see what you’ve got".
