Game Reincarnation: Reborn as the Strongest Villain-Chapter 101 Demi-Human from the East.
Chapter 101: 101 Demi-Human from the East.
The boy’s voice was calm, yet it resonated wildly in the depths of the candidates’ hearts. His presence was like a beacon-no, like a light that moths always chased, radiant and fleeting.
A second passed before a long figure of a person, with a distinctive trait of animal features on her head.
"I have arrived".
A female warrior, wearing a japanese outfit. She wore a light blue kimono and navy hakama, strapped with a black obi around her waist, and a bokuto slipped on her left.
One thing that took Jin’s breath away was the appearance of twitching ears on her skull. It was a cat’s ears. He also spotted a tail behind her lifted up as she stood before him.
"Are you from East? It’s pretty rare".
Jin’s casual remark met the girl’s widened eyes, but soon her expression turned flat and emotionless.
The girl had a round, cute face, short black hair, and sharp purple eyes that stared into a void. No, she wasn’t staring blankly; rather, she stared toward Jin’s waist.
"Your sword?" the girl asked. Her voice was chill like a machine; it contained no emotion.
"Ah, right, I forgot about that, Silvia?".
As per his request, Silvia threw the bokuto, which drew a wide arc before Jin caught the hilt perfectly and swung it several times to test its durability.
"That’s perfect, can you introduce...!?". Jin’s eyes widened, seeing the cat-girl arrive before him, gripping her bokuto.
As time slowed down, Jin could capture his opponent’s movement. His eyes flashed, and he lowered his stance a bit to dodge the sweep aimed at his neck.
A wind whistled intensely from her swing, but her feet left the ground, giving Jin a chance to counter.
He twisted his wrist and thrust the bokuto straight toward the girl’s solar plexus, but something strange happened.
She used her racial trait as a cat, especially her flexibility to spin in midair, and used that momentum to swing her bokuto downward.
Jin sidestepped, and the cat-girl started to chase him. He observed the girl’s attack and responded necessarily.
A clattering noise of wood clashed, and the wind was being sliced, filling the arena. Both candidates remained steadfast in their spar, raising the tension in other candidates who stood as spectators.
’She is pretty impressive’. Jin thought, dodging the incoming barrage of slash and thrust that rained upon him.
Her swordsmanship was unrestricted by any rules, as she completely utilized her racial trait as a cat.
The nimble body that could dodge every attack, the accuracy of her attack came from her peripheral vision that dilated and sharpened each time she saw an opening.
Even though her style was unpredictable, Jin, who had honed his swordsmanship and understood the depth of his own strength, easily saw her attack.
Also, because of her beastly instinct that let her move freely and unrestrained, it sapped her stamina too quickly, and Jin could see sweat trickling down her temple.
Jin tightly gripped the hilt and infused a bit of his will into the sword. He deflected her attack, making her front open wide.
However, Jin didn’t attack and let the cat girl regain her stance, ’It was my job to see her capabilities to the end’.
The test continued. Minutes passed, and the strike she unleashed started to dull. Jin noticed that the cat girl’s vision was also narrowed, and she was oblivious to the surrounding area.
’I think this is it.’ Jin began to take action. He infused a bit of will into his bokuto, filling it with a mind sword skill.
A wave of nauseating pressure hit the cat girl’s body. Her tail and ears jolted straight, smelling death.
Jin saw the girl standing stiffened like a statue. Her trembling eyes stared vacantly ahead, and her body shuddered in alarm of the incoming abyss.
’Crap, did I infuse too much will?’. Jin walked closer, gently tapping the girl’s forehead, and saw her jump backward, hissing.
"Hssss!".
"Are you okay? I’m sorry I went a bit too far," Jin said with a bitter smile.
The boy scratched his cheek and noted that he wouldn’t use his mind sword against the people unless necessary.
Kaede’s wild instinct as a Demi-human flared up. Within her purple eyes, she emitted a grounded noble purple aura that vanished in a blink.
Her gaze faltered for a bit, witnessing Jin tilting his head, oblivious to what had transpired in her heart. The cat girl slowly stood up, fixed her disheveled hair, and walked toward Jin.
"Name?". The girl asked, as usual, her vacant eyes staring directly at him.
"Jin, my name is Jin. You are?".
"Um, I’ll remember it". She nodded then. "My name is Kusanagi Kaede".
Jin saw the cat girl slightly bowing her torso and then walked away from the arena. "Wait, what is your test number?".
Kusanagi stopped midway, her brows raised upward with her jaws dropped to the ground, finally catching up to the test.
She rubbed her chin but soon lost herself in her absent-minded state, staring at an empty space again.
"Kusanagi?". Jin called.
"Ah? What?". Kusanagi snapped from her daze as she tilted her head to Jin.
"Her number was 107, and my number was 108".
A reply did not come from Kusanagi, but behind her, a boy wearing a navy kimono with a black hakama stepped forward.
The boy had a striking resemblance to Kusanagi, who absentmindedly stared at the approaching him.
"Kurobe?".
"Big sis, please be more focused". Kurobe exhaled, then she pushed Kaede’s back out of the arena. "There you go, it was my turn".
"Hm, good luck," Kaede nodded, her stiff lips parted in a pleasant smile. She watched her little brother’s backs.
"Greetings, fellow candidates, or should I say instructor?". Kurobe scratched his head, throwing some silly joke to lighten the mood.
"Call me, Jin. That’s my name, I’m sorry but you two are". Jin alternated his gaze between the two of them.
"Yeah, we are twins." Kurobe flashed his white teeth. Unlike her sister, the boy’s face showed a myriad of emotions.
"I see. Well, let’s start, I guess," Jin said and prepared his stance.
"Yes, I might be inexperienced, but may we have a good fight?" The cat boy slightly bowed his head with a playful smirk and prepared his stance.
Kurobe didn’t bring anything with him, but he aligned his fist with his waist and bent his knees straight on each side.
’Martial artist, huh?’. Jin pondered for a second, then stored his bokuto in his item box, twisted his wrist, and rolled his shoulders to loosen the joints.
His opponent and others narrowed their eyes. The candidates, much less the spectator, had their brows knitted in deep frowns in a blatant display of provocation.
Unbothered by those gazes, Jin lightly hopped around, ensuring his body was loosened enough.
He thrust a fist ahead, blasting the air around, kicked, and performed several basic martial arts movements.
"Good, I’m ready, Kurobe".
The cat boy flinched, his wild instinct as a part of an animal jolted his nerves awake, pumping a lot of blood to his heart, spreading it to his whole body to enhance his abilities.
His purple eyes turned to slit like a predator, his body emitted a wild untamed purple aura that flooded the arena.
"Here I come".
In one breath, Kurobe vanished and arrived beside Jin with a clenched fist ready. The cat boy thrust his attack toward Jin’s neck.
Jin tilted his neck and slid his footwork to let Kurobe’s side body rest on his back, and with a gentle push, the cat boy’s feet left the ground, and Jin flipped his body forward, aiming to slam Kurobe’s back.
But like sisters and brothers, they possessed superb flexibility and were capable of twisting their bodies in midair.
Jin’s technique was perfect, but Kurobe bent his body mid-fight. They landed in twisted clinches, feet on the ground, and their holds were firm, like they were holding each other’s backs from touching the ground.
Both reacted swiftly and simultaneously pushed each other aside, letting their backs touch the ground, and doing a somersault. Once they stood up, both pivoted and prepared their stances.
At this time, Kurobe, who understood the boy was capable of martial arts, began to loosen the tension that restricted his full potential and his hesitation to unleash his all in this test.
"One more".
Jin shook his outfit’s tail and shifted his stance vertically, raising his palm to face the sky. With a gentle twist of his joined fingers, Jin said, "Let’s continue."
Kurobe dashed. His feet were blurred. He unleashed a straight punch forward but stopped at a point before breaching open his fist in a grab motion.
He managed to grab Jin’s collar, but Jin retaliated with a palm, pushing Kurobe’s wrist while stepping back to break his opponent’s stance.
The hand on his collar loosened, and Jin took another step back, then twisted Kurobe’s wrist as he circled to the cat boy’s back.
"Kuh!". Kurobe grunted, but when he fought, the test was over.
Jin pushed Kurobe aside and stood there as if nothing had happened before. "You can do more than this, right?".
A second passed as Kurobe rubbed his throbbing wrist, finally realizing how skillful the boy before him was.
Kurobe’s stiffened lips spread open, revealing his white canines. "Very well then. I wouldn’t hold back this time".
After the cat boy said that, his short black hair fluttered as it grew and covered his back. Slowly, it faded away, turning into a snow-white color that crackled with lightning energy.
’Well, this was pretty bad’. Jin inhaled sharply while tapping the primal mana in his surroundings.
His body emitted a faint green aura that coated the surface of his skin. ’This will do’.
"Come, Kurobe!".
