Former Interstellar Mercenary In Urban Cultivation World-Chapter 1275: The Cult’s Ambush
Chapter 1275: The Cult’s Ambush
Two figures stood atop the towering roof of a high-rise building.
One stood upright, gazing into the distance, while the other crouched down, lazily biting a blade of grass between their lips.
As the grand convoy departed from the embassy, they finally reacted.
"The target has left the embassy. It’s time to act." The standing man spoke calmly.
"The Pleiadian Ascendancy must have sent quite a few people to intercept us, right?"
The crouching figure stood up—half a head shorter than the other.
"It takes an hour to travel from the embassy to the Crimson Moon Dynasty Palace. We need to complete our plan within that time."
The shorter man let out a low chuckle. "I have a fun proposal."
"What kind of proposal?"
"Let’s make it a contest—see who kills the most people. Otherwise, this game is going to be pretty boring."
"Deal."
"How about including us as well?" A voice came through the terminal.
Others were intrigued by the proposal.
"Alright, but let’s make it interesting—whoever loses hands over their reward to the winner. Dare to bet?"
The Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth had promised substantial rewards for this operation.
If they could sabotage the negotiations and cause heavy losses for the nine star systems, the cult would grant them valuable cultivation resources—some of them were so rare that even they struggled to obtain them.
Furthermore, killing a Pleiadian Ascendancy member would also earn them a reward.
For this mission, the Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth had put forth significant incentives, offering precisely what most of them needed at this stage of their cultivation.
If they gambled their rewards, even if the mission succeeded, the losers would essentially have worked for nothing.
Yet, no one hesitated for long.
They eagerly accepted the bet, many itching for the challenge.
"Silence. Listen to my instructions."
A cold voice cut through their excitement.
It belonged to the man known as "Iron Howler Overlord," the mastermind behind this operation.
The moment he spoke, everyone fell silent.
"Who is this Iron Howler Overlord?"
In a neighboring high-rise, unseen by the two cultists on the rooftop, Amalia and Kenny Lin observed from the shadows.
The masked man she captured also part of the operation, so he had access to the cult’s communications.
When the voice echoed in the channel, Amalia and Kenny Lin heard it loud and clear.
"Someone with a direct contact with the cult leader." Amalia replied, skimming through a list of participants in the group.
Although all names were anonymous, the number of members was not hidden.
They didn’t need to know identities—just confirming that everyone was in place was enough.
At the same time, Amalia extended her divine sense outward like an invisible veil, instantly enveloping a 400-500-mile radius, exposing nearly every Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth operative.
The distance between the Crimson Moon Dynasty Palace and the embassy was precisely 500 miles.
If the cultists intended a quick assault, they wouldn’t be positioned beyond this range.
Moments later, within her divine sense, Amalia detected over forty powerful presences.
Among them, several were at the Heaven-rank, while the rest were Earth-rank cultists.
Amalia’s brows furrowed slightly.
"What is it?" Kenny Lin asked.
"I don’t see that Iron Howler Overlord who’s been commanding from the shadows. He’s likely hiding somewhere else, remotely controlling everything. But—I’ve spotted Storm Claw Overlord."
Amalia’s expression was ice-cold.
That face, marked with the tattoo of a ferocious tiger, was one she would never forget in this lifetime.
"He’s yours. I’ll take care of the other two masked figures." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
The aura of those two people gave Kenny Lin the impression that they were the strongest of the group—likely the core strength of this operation.
Ten minutes later, Iron Howler Overlord sent out the attack signal.
A deafening explosion echoed from the distance.
A fireball erupted at the center of the convoy, triggering a massive shockwave that scattered the vehicles instantly.
From the shadows, over a thousand figures surged toward the convoy like a tidal wave.
They were all members of the Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth, most of them at the Black and Yellow ranks—individually not too strong, but overwhelming in sheer numbers.
The Crimson Moon Dynasty’s military responded swiftly and methodically, as if they had anticipated the attack.
The Pleiadian Ascendancy’s forces, even less fazed, stood firm under the command of their leader, blocking the cultists outside the pre-established defensive perimeter.
The air filled with the cacophony of battle cries and the clash of weapons.
Across the battlefield, the envoys from the Eight Great Star Systems exchanged uneasy glances.
A representative from the Erebos Star System peeked out from a vehicle window.
"Is there trouble in other locations as well? Will we still make it to the palace on time?"
"Rest assured, Envoy. This is no major issue. We will arrive at the palace as scheduled."
A Pleiadian Ascendancy member replied calmly, his voice brimming with confidence.
Hearing this, the envoy from the Erebos Star System said no more.
"General Rafiq, Minister Sharif, are these people from the Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth?" Khalil also heard the commotion.
A faint scent of blood lingered in the air.
If he could smell it from this distance, the battlefield must have been brutal.
"Most likely. And this is probably just the beginning." Sharif frowned slightly, a hint of concern in his gaze.
"I’ve heard of the Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth before. If I recall correctly, this organization has existed for many years. The Pleiades Star System has never been able to eradicate them completely. Their strength might even surpass that of Pleiadian Ascendancy."
Rafiq didn’t seem particularly anxious.
He had great confidence in Amalia and Kenny Lin’s abilities.
"It’s not a possibility—it’s a certainty," another voice interjected. "The Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth existed long before Pleiadian Ascendancy was founded. Back then, they nearly toppled the Crimson Moon Dynasty. If not for the intervention of Pleiadian Ascendancy’s Grand Elder, the Crimson Moon Dynasty might have become the Cult’s domain instead."
