EX-Grade Ability Card: Tower Ascension with My Absolute Restoration-Chapter 38: Slaughter
Chapter 38: Slaughter
Hearing an unfamiliar voice just sounding right next to them, the group previously observing the young man couldn’t help but tense up as they never felt the presence of this newcomer, not knowing where he came from or how he appeared all of a sudden without alarming a single one of them.
Wondering about the identity of this person, most of the group then turns their head towards the direction of the sound, wanting to see the appearance of this newcomer, only for their eyes to widen as they saw a scene they never expected to see in this floor that they already conquered a long time ago.
One of their companions, the dagger-wielding figure previously playing with his weapon and licking it as he looks at their target, now has his dagger carving a deep, fatal wound right on his heart, and yet that is not the most brutal part of the kill, as both his eyes popped out of its socket and his tongue is pulled away from his mouth completely.
Knowing that the situation is not in their favor for the time being though, the remaining figures then got themselves into position, taking out their favored weapons as their senses works in an overdrive, trying to detect every single minute changes in the surroundings in the hopes of spotting this person that makes killing one of them appear too easy.
"Who the hell are you!! Reveal yourself to us!!" with his head swerving all around trying to find with his eyes the perpetrator of one of his companions’ death, another person among the group shouted as he tightened his hold of the spear in his hand, his jaw locked as he gnashed his teeth in frustration of not even being able to see the face of his friend’s killer.
"The question is, who the hell are you people? I was minding my own business here, and you’re all tailing me armed to the teeth, it wouldn’t even be a problem if it is only for a while, but you all have been following me for a week now, you think I won’t notice when your stealth skills are that poor?"
With a voice filled with mockery as he replies to one of the figures’ question, the one who killed these figure’s companion replied, his answer making it clear to the figures who is it that they are facing right now, and yet, the disbelieving expression on their faces clearly say that they refuse to acknowledge the truth in front of them.
’How is that even possible!? He might be a veteran in the tower, but still, he is a second-floor ascender!! How is he this skilled!!?’ still unable to find their target despite their hardest of efforts to scan their surroundings the other member of this group starts to ask in their minds, the terror already creeping through their hearts as the thought that they might actually be fighting against someone they shouldn’t offend starts growing in their heads.
Still, these thoughts are blocked by the fact that they are ascenders of the fifth floor of the tower, and even if it is true that they are only capable of exerting the same amount of power as a second-floor ascender who reaches the limit of this floor’s stats, the effects of their skills and their abilities is more than enough to grant them overwhelming advantage when fighting against any ascender of the second floor.
And yet, not to mention these skills and abilities of them seemingly appearing to be useless against this young man, even their number isn’t able to affect the flow of this fight, only serving as a mechanism that increases the tension of each and every single one of them as they watch their companions, who had gone through life and death with them, die one by one in their target’s hands.
Multiple crimson flowers blossomed within the midst of this forest as Azrael starts swinging his sword relentlessly on these people, his senses telling him that these new opponents of his are ones that he should be wary of, hence why he is using the shock they are currently feeling to minimize their number as much as he can.
’Hopefully, I can kill them all before they recover from their shock...’ as he severs another figure’s head from their body, Azrael thought to himself before swinging the Evil Fang Sword in his hand once again, the blood previously seeping into the sword’s surface now congregating on its tip, producing a bright crimson glow that disappears the moment that he swung the sword once again.
Not really disappearing into nowhere, anyone with sharp eyes can follow the trajectory that this condensed blood has taken the moment it left the tip of the Evil Fang Sword, travelling in a straight line directed towards another one of the figures, said figure’s companion reacting too late to realize the threat that this crimson glow holds.
Without fail, this crimson glow arrives right on this figure’s face, tearing a coin-sized hole right on their forehead before it passes through and comes out of the back of their head, allowing anyone from their front or back to see the opposite side.
Looking at another one of their companion’s falling to death all too unexpectedly, the remaining five people gritted their teeth and instead of trying to defend and counterattack against their target’s offensive, they started focusing on getting out of this place as soon as possible and report to their legia what sort of monster this young man is.
"Running away now? Really? You ruined your assassination attempt against me and now you’re all ruining my assassination attempt against your group?" watching the fleeing enemies seemingly not even worrying about their companion’s anymore, Azrael then shouted as he aims to deal with the rest of them as he prefers not to let go of anyone trying to deal with him.
’I also need to catch one of them alive to know who sent them... although, I already have an idea who it is...’ Azrael thought to himself as he picked one of the diseased figures’ weapon and forcefully threw it to one of the fleeing ones.
