Duo Leveling LITRPG | Post Apocalyptic | SYSTEM-Chapter 87: The Moment the Curtain Falls
Chapter 87: Chapter 87: The Moment the Curtain Falls
Normally, dungeonization in Exodia prioritized landmarks first.
Big ones. Famous ones.
Well... it’s not like that rule was absolute.
Some dungeons had bloomed out of nowhere in empty sewers. Some major city centers had remained untouched. Nothing was consistent.
The system decided.
By whatever unknown logic it followed, that’s where dungeons were born.
Conard pushed those thoughts aside as he stared quietly at the sealed amusement park before him.
What mattered now was that Kyle’s trail ended here.
«Are we sure this is where he went?»
«Yes, sir. According to the informant, they hiNeoned the moving dungeon—Ghost Train—and came straight here.»
«...I still can’t make sense of it.»
Honestly, the fact that they’d managed to forcefully take over a D-rank dungeon had been shocking on its own.
But what came next?
Instead of heading to Ark, Kyle had come here.
To an abandoned theme park.
What the hell is he planning?
Bey World didn’t seem to hold any strategic value.
If anything, it was one of the few zones Company had classified as off-limits.
Conard frowned.
«This is Bermuda Zone.»
«...Sir?»
One of the agents looked at him, clearly shaken.
And for good reason.
The Bermuda Zones were strictly blacklisted by command.
Another whispered, nervous:
«This is one of the high-disappearance zones... right?»
Bermuda.
A zone like a sinkhole—calm on the surface, but at any moment, the ground could vanish beneath you.
The strange thing?
There were no dungeons detected in this region.
«Bermuda is still... completely unexplained.»
And that’s why people called them Bermuda Zones—regions where individuals disappeared without a trace.
No survivors.
No bodies.
Nothing.
The dead say nothing.
And the missing say even less.
Some speculated that this might be exclusive content from Exodia2, unknown to the first generation of players.
But Conard had a different theory.
«Kyle went in. Do you understand what that means?»
He looked over his shoulder, eyes sharp.
If Kyle had willingly walked into one of these forbidden zones...
It wasn’t suicide.
This was intentional.
Kyle wasn’t just some arrogant fool.
He was—without question—one of the most capable players in the world, enemy or not.
No way someone like that would march straight into death.
Conard chuckled, low and dry.
«Kyle knows something. He knew about Bermuda. I bet this whole thing started back in Exodia1.»
More and more, he began to suspect—
This was the source of Kyle’s real power.
Not just some lucky clear on Hell difficulty.
What Kyle had shown back in Exodia1... those overwhelming feats of strength—
That had to come from something hidden. Something deeper.
Conards thoughts grew sharper.
Kyle probably monopolized places like this in Exodia1, too.
Eyes glinting, he issued his command.
«Whatever’s inside—Kyle can’t have it. I don’t care what it is. We hold this ground. No matter what.»
His agents nodded stiffly, clearly rattled.
They didn’t exactly look thrilled to follow him.
And who could blame them?
They’d already drained themselves just tailing Kyle this far.
And now? Now they were being told to walk into an unknown anomaly—one with no return.
Still, what choice did they have?
Orders were orders.
«We’re going in.»
With that short order, Conard crossed the threshold first.
His team followed silently behind.
And the moment they stepped inside—
Bustling crowds.
Bam! Bam-bam! Ba-ba-baam!
«Mom! Hurry! Hurry!»
«The Viking line’s short today—run!»
«Oh my god, this is perfect—take the picture already!»
They froze.
Every one of them.
Eyes wide.
There were people. Everywhere.
Families. Kids. Couples. Tourists.
All around them, a perfectly normal Bey World was alive and well.
Conard stared at the sudden brightness above.
The overcast sky had turned blue.
The park was packed.
His agents were silent, swallowing dryly.
How long has it been since we’ve seen this many people in one place?
«What in the...»
Thunk.
A child bumped into Conard’s leg.
The kid’s ice cream dropped to the ground.
And just like that—he burst into tears.
A man—probably the father—ran over, bowing repeatedly.
«I’m so sorry.»
«...»
«how many times did I say not to run?»
The man scooped up his son and led him toward a cotton candy stand, still apologizing as they went.
Conard’s agents said nothing.
They were pale. Sweating.
And then—
«...Sir. Are we sure this is real?»
Maybe it was.
That was still the New Capital skyline up ahead.
The Bey Tower stood tall in the distance, surrounded by the same familiar urban sprawl.
But the problem?
This was three months ago.
Before everything happened.
Before the collapse.
Before Exodiatore the world open.
A peaceful New Capital.
Conard pressed his lips together.
«...First, we assess.»
«Yes, sir.»
He began to walk.
His agents followed—tense, alert.
The crowd parted naturally.
Maybe it was their gear. Their weapons. Their expressions.
No one wanted to get in their way.
«I can’t believe this.»
«Oh god...»
The further they walked, the more surreal it felt.
And then—
They heard it.
A melody.
«Sir. That’s... isn’t that Millie?»
Conard paused.
«It is. It’s coming from the stage.»
The music grew louder.
It was building. Rising toward the chorus.
Conard felt himself pulled by it, step by step.
And then—
Silence.
Just for a second.
«Stop.»
He raised a hand.
Everyone froze.
His fingers reached toward the sword at his waist, gripping the hilt tightly.
He swallowed.
[—kkzt.]
Somewhere nearby, machinery stuttered.
Static.
And in a blink—
The entire park changed.
The sunny day collapsed into night.
Just like that.
Bey World became a void.
Conard didn’t even react.
He couldn’t.
He didn’t have the strength left to be surprised.
