Inside his office in one of the most luxurious and well protected skycrapers in the entirety of Hollywood Megacity, the governor of the city skimmed through the usual documents his faithful secretary orderly handed to him. Just as it was for hunters, government agents dreaded paperwork more than they feared cryptids because no matter how much power they had, they couldn't get done with it easily.

Lister was a short man with dark hair and a youthful face that would have given Uriel's porcelain skin a run for his money even back when he still benefited from Water warlock's blessing. His stature was unusual for a man of his standing, but his age stood out even more among his peers as he was the youngest governor in the world.

There were many reasons for this, but the most important was that with his twenty five years old he still managed to cast a shadow on all the other candidates in both tests and results.

Hollywood megacity boasted one of the best economies in the world and it was among the few places that didn't make hunting cryptids their main income.

Needless to say, it was all thanks to its capable governor who focused on providing the best possible services to tourists while also keeping the population happy, but after the downfall of its neighboring megacity they were experiencing several problems ranging from high crime rates due and scarcity of flux orbs. However, the worst problem came without any warning or explanation.

"Are there any news about the Mapple corporation in this pile of trash?" Lister, the governor, asked his secretary after spreading the files and sheets on the desk like butter on bread.

"No, sir. I'm afraid there aren't any news at all. If this situation continues our shops will be out of stock in less than a month." Halsted replied without the need to even look at the papers in front of him. He was aware of the tight spot they were in and if any news had occurred he would have been informed the governor on the spot.

With his muscular build and bushy, it was obvious the governor didn't choose him because of his looks but due to his competence and work ethics.

"Forget about commodities, we'll run out of funds before that happens. We have more refugees than work spots and keeping them fed is the only way to keep them from turning to crime." Lister scoffed.

"If they stopped coming due to what happened to our neighboring city, things will get back to normal soon, but if another city stole our market without us knowing we'll be out of business by the end of the month." Halsted stroked his beard while sharing his thoughts.

"What's killing me is not knowing, we just need one ship to come with news and we'll be able to find out what's going out in the rest of the world. If only we had one of those fancy Mapple corp. broadband devices we would be able to communicate with their zeppelins and keep in touch with the rest of the world." Lister cursed inwardly.

"Actually, there's many possible solutions and I think one might have come to our doorstep today. There's a young man waiting for you outside, should I let him in?" Halsted asked, to which Lister nodded, his face brimming with new found hope.

The man in question remained at the waiting room gaping at the sight of the luxurious furnishing and tasteful decorations of the place while drinking a glass of water. He was tall, lean, with broad shoulders and facial features that would make women fell in love with him and die of envy at the same time.

By his side, a woman more beautiful than words could describe tapped her feet on the carpet in anxiety without ever taking her eyes from the beautiful man that stood nearby. When the door opened and the secretary opened the door a startled Nika jumped on her feet.

"You may come in," Halsted nodded and Nika moved towards him with an amicable smile that disappeared as soon as the secretary shook his head. "I'm sorry, miss... Nika, the governor won't be able to see you today either. Mister Jacobs, the governor is eager to meet you. Follow me please."

"I'm sorry, I know you've been waiting here longer than me. If it was my choice I would wait for my turn." The stupidly handsome man turned to see Nika with an apologetic smile that almost swept Nika's shadow from her feet and spoke softly.

"Great, he's not just handsome, he had to be nice too." Nika cursed at Soulfire under her breath before exiting the waiting room and then the building with a deep frown in her face after failing to even make an appointment with the ever busy governor.

Because of the touchy subjects she needed to discuss and the possibly dangerous information she wanted to disclose, she couldn't provide any reason as to why meeting with the governor was so important without leaking anything to low rank government agents. This also meant that the only way they could reach him was if one of his appointments cancelled at the last minute.

Inwardly, Nika hoped to get the chance to cause a convenient 'accident' to befall upon whoever had an appointment with the governor, but Soulfire was too powerful, too nice and also, stupidly beautiful.

Things weren't much better in the Pegasus, where Emma kept her face buried on the phone far longer than it was healthy. Deep bags under her eyes caused by lack of sleep along with the damaged hair, frail nails and dry lips made her look like a slum dweller despite the quality food provided to her.

"I can't do this anymore!" Emma dropped her face on the table and fell asleep for about five seconds, only to resume her search as soon as she opened them.

"If you know it, then why do you keep doing it?" Amy tilted her head in confusion. As a former medicine student, she was more than accustomed to pulling all nighters, but never to the point of hurting herself.

"Luna asked me to find information about cryptids for her research and you know how she's like." Emma sighed.

"Yeah, but..." Amy pretended to refute, but Emma cut her short.

"It's the only way I have to earn enough money to go to the concert."

"We already have the tickets, so what's all this about?"

"We can't just go, what if we have the chance to meet him in person? Just think about it! We can't go there dressed in rags, with cheap make up and without any jewelry!" Emma's pouting finally made Amy realize that maybe spending so much in tickets for a concert wasn't a waste of time.

"If I meet him, then... then... I don't know what I would do, but I'm so excited!"

"I know! And he might have hot friends too!" They held hands with the shared dream of meeting the man of their dreams. One of them with pure innocent thoughts while the other couldn't take her head out of the gutter.

"Hang on, if you're doing this for money, then why don't you go hunt with Liam and I? It should be way more lucrative than sitting in your ass all day and night. Besides, you look like a cryptid, though that's better for me. It means that I'll have more chances at meeting him." Amy giggled to which Emma replied by clicking her tongue.

"The only reason why you can go out and hunt is because I'm staying here looking for information, but even if I could join you I still wouldn't make any money since I'm too weak compared to you guys. By the time you kill an entire beast horde I would still be struggling with a single enemy, if I'm even alive by that point."

"I didn't think of that." Amy scratched the back of her head.

"Also, why do you think I've been staying awake all this time? Overtime pays so much better! I haven't clocked out since Monday."

"Isn't it today Monday?" Amy managed to say before Emma fainted due to being exhausted and deprived of sleep forcing Amy to carry her to the infirmary.

"You didn't knock." Luna greeted Amy with a cold tone of voice she wasn't accustomed to.

"I'm sorry but it's an emergency, she fainted and..."

"Uhm... you didn't knock." Luna insisted, prompting Amy to awkwardly take a few steps back, close the door and knock while carrying an unconscious Emma.

"I'm busy with my research, go away." Luna answered.

"This is stupid, Emma fainted because of you, do something!" While openly accusing Luna of being the cause of Emma's condition was foolish, it was better than explaining it was Emma's own greed what caused her condition.

"Drop her in there," Luna pointed her finger at a stretcher, a gesture Amy missed due to Emma being on her arms and Luna's tiny stature. "Not there!"

"What is the meaning of this?" Amy asked outraged when she saw Uriel, also unconscious.

"Probably the same it happened to her, overwork." Luna sighed once she realized she missed the chance to study Uriel's body in detail like he wanted. Her window of opportunity only lasted until Nika returned which could happen any minute due to her trait.

"Does he really need to be strapped shirtless?"

"Doctor patient confidentiality." Luna spoke at the same time a shadow crawled from beneath Uriel's stretcher.
