Divine Beast Creator-Chapter 1067 - 1068: Discovery
Chapter 1067: Chapter 1068: Discovery
"I never expected there to be so many?"
Entering the Stray Spirit Beast Paradise, Qi Xiaoshuang said with a hint of surprise. She had thought that the Spirit Beasts here were few, considering the limited scope of the plaza and that the Paradise only occupied one corner. However, internally, it exceeded her expectations, with various types of Spirit Beasts squeezing into this exclusive sanctuary.
Even those special opposing types of Spirit Beasts that would usually fight upon meeting each other behaved rather well here. Although they didn’t see eye to eye, they refrained from physically fighting.
"It looks quite good, they seem to really like it here."
Feng Yuan commented with surprise. He hadn’t been very interested in the plan for the Stray Spirit Beast Paradise, since managing those wild Spirit Beasts wasn’t easy. Unlike Spirit Beasts with human partners, these creatures, accustomed to the wild, didn’t trust unfamiliar Spirit Beasts easily. Although not frequently seen, Feng Yuan knew that Stray Spirit Beasts in the city often fought over resources for survival.
"Haha, yes, when they first adopted your suggestions, there were fierce fights every day as they competed for their preferred environments," said the person in charge, chuckling as he recalled previous events to Feng Yuan and others. Following Feng Yuan’s last suggestions and organizing according to the necessities listed by Veronia and others, changes had been made to the environment here. While the changes were popular among the Spirit Beasts, they also attracted others who hadn’t initially cared much about this place.
As the number of Spirit Beasts here continually rose, conflicts were inevitable. Fortunately, though there was fighting initially, they gradually formed peculiar small groups. These groups checked each other, helping to gradually restore peace.
Conflicts still occurred, but they chose to leave and settle their scores in the wild rather than in the city. The reason for not fighting in the city was due to the fact that any destruction caused here would result in them being forcibly expelled.
Other cities lacked this kind of sanctuary for Stray Spirit Beasts; hence, they valued this place highly. Especially recently, many Stray Spirit Beasts from other frontier cities passed through and after knowing the current situation in those frontier cities, they were even less willing to leave.
"It’s a bit strange, why are there so many Spirit Beasts here that shouldn’t be?"
Feng Yuan observed with some confusion. Compared to last time, there were indeed more Spirit Beasts here, but the significant issue was that many of these Spirit Beasts’ habitats weren’t anywhere near Maomu City, including a sighting of the Gale Wolf, which definitely didn’t belong nearby.
Moreover, they enjoyed the sensation of running swiftly, and there was no such space in the city for them. As for running in the streets? That could easily lead to traffic disturbances, which would definitely result in them being chased out of the city.
It seemed strange even to see a Gale Wolf here. Xiao Bai, the White Shadow Wolf, darted out from behind Qi Xiaoshuang towards the Gale Wolf bellowing as if explaining something. Perhaps due to the pressure of Xiao Bai’s strength or its status as an affiliate of the White Wolf Deity, the Gale Wolf seemed somewhat restrained in its presence.
"Has the border become chaotic already?"
Holding his chin, Feng Yuan said with surprise. Although both sides were restraining themselves and preparing, they hadn’t ceased their actions. At least, minor disruptions by smaller nations at the borders of Great Xia were causing significant troubles for these wild Spirit Beasts, which was why they had moved north to Maomu City.
Veronia, spinning her parasol casually, spoke,
"Isn’t that normal? Even if the battle hasn’t officially started, certain moves must be made. Moreover, with some luck, there might even be unexpected gains."
"That’s true. At least now, the wild Spirit Beasts in the boundary regions have been driven away, but wouldn’t this attract their intervention?"
Feng Yuan said, feeling somewhat odd as he glanced towards where Liao Yu previously stood. Agunas hadn’t returned yet, so they didn’t need to worry about him knowing this matter. Veronia glanced at Feng Yuan, saying,
"That clumsy crocodile is unlikely to act over such a matter, as they’ve caused no harm to the beasts. However, it is indeed rather arrogant."
Continuing, Veronia too felt something odd. While the Spirit Beasts’ probable response to just being driven away might be to ignore the humans, it was hard to say whether more aggressive characters than the Little Crocodile would take issue and opt to oppose them. Feng Yuan, seeming to recall something shocking, said,
"Could you help and ask if all Spirit Beasts roaming the border regions, including within their national boundaries, have been driven away?"
"Why?"
Veronia didn’t react immediately—what had happened? Why was Feng Yuan so agitated? But if it was as Feng Yuan had said, then the actions were certainly suspicious, since no normal person would drive away the wild Spirit Beasts living in the wilderness for no reason.
The inquiry, however, confirmed Feng Yuan’s speculations. With furrowed brows, Feng Yuan looked at the person in charge beside him and pondered before pulling out his cellphone to make a call.
"Could it be... another major issue?"
Qi Xiaoshuang looked worriedly at Feng Yuan. It was rare for him to show such an expression, and now that he did, could it be that there was a significant problem at the border?
"It’s hard to say, just speculating, but if it’s true..."
Feng Yuan seemed to recall something, looked around, and after a moment, comforted himself by saying,
"It probably won’t care, after all, it’s concerned about those Spirit Beasts."
"What’s concerned about those Spirit Beasts? What are you talking about me again?"
Agunas looked at Feng Yuan with a puzzled face. Having just drifted back, he heard Feng Yuan saying something odd. Although it wasn’t explicitly about him, his instincts told him it was indeed about him. Seeing Agunas, Feng Yuan guiltily turned his head and said,
"I wasn’t saying anything much, just that you seemed overly concerned about those Spirit Beasts... Ahahaha, did you finish asking so quickly?"
"No, but I can confirm that they are indeed secretly capturing the Spirit Beasts from the Stray Spirit Beast Paradise, and they’re also targeting Little Ice Cream and Xiao Ji."
Looking inexplicably at Xiao Ji, Agunas said. Nearby, Xiao Ji, slightly startled, puffed up and chirped as if wanting to show those people a lesson, and then Agunas glanced at Feng Yuan and swished its tail, saying,
"Tell me, what are you trying to hide from me?"
"I’m not hiding anything from you, but let’s wait for them to arrive before discussing it."
Feng Yuan said with a guilty face, hoping Agunas wouldn’t rush to the border upon hearing his speculations... It should not leave him on its own initiative, or perhaps, he could find a way to keep it from leaving? But it seemed that wouldn’t work either, considering it was a clone here, and its main body could simply rush there anyway...
Forget it, leave it to them to worry about. As for Agunas’s side, never mind... Feng Yuan thought helplessly. Unlike Veronia, although she occasionally spoke of rebuilding Mitradite, due to the chain, as long as he didn’t permit, it couldn’t leave his side, naturally unable to do so.
Agunas was different; its main body was capturing those Hunters, and if it heard his speculation, it might just rush to the border, and he wouldn’t know...
"What’s so urgent for calling us over? And even having Captain Yan come too?"
As Feng Yuan and the others were playing with the Spirit Beasts, Ye Hanlei and her team also arrived. Feng Yuan glanced at the surrounding staff and pondered before saying,
"Agunas, please block the perception of the people around us."
"What are you going to do?"
Though puzzled, Agunas flung the book it was holding and opened a Barrier that enveloped everyone. The person in charge nearby, although witnessing this, did not come forward to check, especially since Ye Hanlei and her team were there in Special Duty Team uniforms, and Captain Yan was also standing by, nothing needed his interference.
"Such caution? Is it really something big?"
Captain Yan frowned slightly. He knew Feng Yuan’s character somewhat—if it weren’t something major, he wouldn’t act like this, because when it came to important matters, he seldom acted so mysteriously. At this moment, Feng Yuan, with the Gale Wolf beside him, approached and shared a speculation that stunned Captain Yan.
