Devilish secretary-Chapter 332 Date with Gray (2)
Chapter 332: Chapter 332 Date with Gray (2)
"Where are we going?" Gray finally asked, his voice calm as always, but his hand resting on his lap clenched slightly.
He had noticed the way she looked after Ray left. That strange silence, the way her eyes stared at nothing. It made something twist inside him...something he didn’t want to name. Was she missing Ray already? Was she... bored of him?
He didn’t show it, of course. Not on his face. But inside, Gray’s thoughts were storming.
Lilith, on the other hand, felt his eyes on her. She blinked quickly and cleared her throat, shaking off the emotion sitting in her chest. Her fingers adjusted the heater knob as she looked straight ahead.
Then she smiled.
That confident, beautiful smile that only she could wear like a crown.
"Surprise," she said, her voice light again, eyes glancing at him sideways.
Gray stared at her for a moment. That smile was it hiding something?
Still, his heart relaxed just a little.
He leaned back in the seat, watching her profile as she focused on the road, and quietly whispered in his heart:
Please let it be me you’re driving toward... not away from.
The car rolled to a gentle stop in front of the luxurious mountainside resort. Afternoon sunlight filtered softly through the tall trees, casting long golden rays across the quiet road. The sky was pale blue, tinged with the softness of winter mist, and a faint breeze carried the scent of pine and fresh snow.
Gray glanced at Lilith as the engine stilled. She didn’t speak right away, but the corners of her lips curved into a gentle smile as she stepped out of the car. The sunlight caught her sweater, making her glow under the soft light. She walked over to his side and opened the door for him like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Let’s go," she said softly.
He stepped out, feeling a quiet sense of calm in her presence. The resort was elegant and secluded, with handcrafted wood and stone architecture, and the kind of silence that felt like it was made for two.
They didn’t have to wait—Lilith had already arranged everything. A polite staff member led them down the corridor, the light echo of footsteps accompanying their path. As they reached the suite at the very end, Lilith dismissed the staff with a graceful wave of her hand.
"Thank you. We’ll take it from here."
Then she turned to Gray, stopping him just before the door.
"Close your eyes," she said gently.
He blinked, raising an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Because," she smiled, stepping closer, "I want to surprise you."
Gray gave in with a quiet sigh and a small smirk. "Fine."
Lilith reached up and softly covered his eyes with her hands, the tips of her fingers cool from the breeze, but her touch was warm. With one hand still shielding his eyes, she opened the door and slowly guided him inside.
"Step here. Careful... One more step..."
Then she let go.
"Open your eyes."
As Gray blinked in the soft afternoon light pouring through the windows, his breath caught.
The room was filled with warm, earthy charm, a wood-themed dream with beige and cream accents, golden sunlight streaming through sheer curtains. The bed was layered with soft blankets, a cozy rug stretched near the hearth, and the faint scent of cinnamon and warm cedar filled the air.
But what stood out the most was the handwritten message strung across the wall with glowing string lights:
"Happy Birthday, My Grumpy Human Doll"
His gaze softened.
Near the table in the corner, ten carefully wrapped books sat in neat piles. Psychology, mystery, and one with a bold red ribbon that said nothing.
Lilith stepped beside him. "That one’s your ’Blind Date Book’. You won’t know what it is unless you open it," she said with a little grin.
Outside, through the back window, was a private hot spring surrounded by trees. Steam rose gently into the crisp air, and the whole setting looked like something out of a quiet dream.
Gray didn’t speak for a moment. His fingers twitched slightly, and his chest rose with a slow breath.
"You remembered all this?" he asked, voice low.
Lilith raised her eyebrows playfully. "I remember everything about you."
He looked at her. And then, without saying another word, pulled her into his arms.
He didn’t need to say thank you. His hug said everything.
Gray stood near the table, slowly unwrapping the covers from each book. His eyes sparkled with a rare light as he carefully scanned the titles—some were on psychological case studies, others were dark mysteries with twisted plots he loved. Each one felt handpicked, as if Lilith had read his mind.
He flipped through the pages of a thick hardcover, and the faint scent of new paper and ink made him smile softly. "These are all new editions..." he murmured to himself, genuinely touched. His fingers trailed along the spine of the final one, the mystery-ribboned Blind Date Book, curiosity flickering in his eyes.
When he turned around to thank her—
He froze.
Standing by the window, Lilith was holding a stunning bouquet of deep red flowers. The petals looked velvet-rich, glowing slightly against the golden afternoon sunlight that poured in from behind her. The bouquet was wrapped neatly, and nestled inside was a small white card with golden edges.
"For you," Lilith said with that charming, radiant smile only she could give him. Her voice was light, sweet, and filled with affection, like a melody made just for his ears.
Gray’s expression softened. His grip on the book relaxed as he stepped toward her slowly, as if afraid the moment would vanish if he moved too quickly.
"You’re really trying to kill me with sweetness today," he said quietly, taking the bouquet from her hands, his fingers brushing against hers.
She chuckled, her eyes gleaming. "You deserve it."
He looked down at the card, his heart thudding a little louder as he opened it.
His lips curved upward slowly, the corners of his mouth lifting into a soft, rare smile that made him look younger and warmer. His eyes flicked over the neat handwriting inside the card, and for a moment, he didn’t say anything. He just stood there, reading it again.
