Chapter 31: Looking for the dead

"Have me?" Naya looked at him with a suspicious gaze.

She knew Caleb was a shameless person who could go out of the way to achieve whatever he wanted.

She realized this after staying with him throughout the Nathan incident.

Pretending he was dead? Hell, she was scared out of her shell!

Even if the two shared a deeper connection at the moment,

it still didn’t change who he was.

"What’s with the look? It’s nothing bad," Caleb said with a chuckle.

"Your next magazine cover will be featuring the Mega Hall... With you on the cover, it’ll drag a lot of attention, and a lot of people would want to use the hall as well," Caleb explained calmly.

Naya’s eyes lit up in excitement... This was also a perfect opportunity for her!

As her covers would gain more traction if the Mega Hall was a success!

"Well, I can say you’re a business genius... and not just some empty-headed pervert," Naya said, rolling her eyes.

"But don’t you think the Mega Hall would take a lot of time to be built? I mean, they’ve not started the building—"

"Wrong. Martin’s already commenced the building plans. The Mega Hall was taking a lot of revenue and capital to continue building... That was also part of the reason why the investors withdrew their support."

’Thanks to their lack of patience, it granted me the opportunity to grab a larger portion of the shares... allowing me to benefit more than them from the investment, while only investing so little,’ Caleb thought to himself with a smile.

He deduced his speculations after his short conversation with Martin concerning the Mega Hall.

The initial planned investment was forty-five million dollars.

However, since it was a multi-purpose hall with a unique architectural design and structure, which was also meant to be large enough to fit a large audience...

The initial investment amount wasn’t sufficient enough.

The investors felt as though it wouldn’t amount to much if they poured more money into it and at the end of the day their returns would be little.

As such, they decided to withdraw. They didn’t agree to support further after Martin requested their help with three million dollars.

Their lie was pitiful though.

Which high-end millionaire would have a problem giving out three million?

Caleb could tell that they were reluctant because they felt it wouldn’t be worth it.

He stole the opportunity, and he only had to invest three million while having more shares than them, who had probably contributed more.

"So at the end, you invested a small amount while still getting the lion’s share?" Naya asked, amused. ’I guess his confidence is only part his skill,’ she thought, her eyes flickering with admiration...

"Yes... I believe with the money I threw in, then the building should be completed in a few days at best."

’But the issue will be dragging the sales... getting a massive audience. Even with Naya’s influence, I still won’t reach the big dogs... And I have to get one million and five hundred thousand dollars before the week ends.’

Caleb thought to himself, rubbing his nose bridge.

The system really had a way to give him a headache.

’At least that would keep me busy until I find the next cardholder... Who knows who it will be,’ Caleb thought to himself.

"...So about your sister? What will she be using the Mega Hall for?" Naya asked, curiosity in her voice.

"Well, I’m not sure myself. I’m yet to ask her... But let’s get things ready first," Caleb replied.

"Alright then, let me call my secretary and prepare for the shooting in the Mega Hall..." Naya said, picking up her customised diamond iPhone 6.

"Oh... wait!" Naya said, remembering something.

"What about the male model that’s meant to shoot with me?"

Caleb thought for a moment.

’That’s right... With Nathan gone, then we need to find someone to fill up the spot.’ He could see the look in Naya’s eyes.

She definitely wanted him to be the one.

But—

"I have someone who can fill the spot... He’s a good friend of mine," Caleb smiled.

’I guess I should help the brotherhood a bit...’ A certain square-headed man appeared in his mind.

Naya, however, didn’t look to be happy with his decision.

"What about you? It’s not like you’re doing anything."

She pouted her lips, her hands crossed over her chest.

Caleb didn’t reply immediately. He smiled, walking to her.

He closed the distance between them with calm and deliberate steps.

Naya unconsciously took a step back, falling back on the table.

"W-what?!" she stuttered. "Don’t come closer to me!"

Caleb stopped in his track, just a few meters away from her.

"Exactly. That’s why I can’t be the model... Sadly, you don’t want me to come closer to you," Caleb said with a wicked grin.

"W-what?" Naya wanted to defend herself, but she didn’t trust him enough to let him come closer to her.

’Not after what happened yesterday!’ she thought, her ears turning red.

She was yet to digest all the things she did.

And she had a feeling that she could still do the same again.

But she could tell that Caleb was deliberately teasing her with it. She steadied herself, her cold, resilient gaze fixed on him.

"Hmph, yes... I don’t want you. But I still have to know what you’ll be doing."

Caleb chuckled at her obvious lie.

"If you really want to know, well... I’ll have to meet my sister to discuss the hall. If she’s going to use it for free, then I’d love to know if there’s any way I’ll be earning from it," Caleb said.

’Unfortunately, I can’t tell you I have the system’s clock ticking above my head,’ Caleb thought with a tired sigh.

"Understood... I’ll go with this friend of yours. Let me tell my secretary," she said, finally putting up the call.

The secretary answered.

Caleb watched calmly as Naya’s expression changed, turning into a deep frown.

’What’s with the face change?’ he thought to himself.

Naya dropped the phone down, her expression dark.

"Caleb, Nathan is nowhere to be found."
