Common Sense Hijack System-Chapter 53
Chapter 53: Chapter 53
Karl checking out John, the dude in front of him, flashing a small smile like a sneaky cashier. But John could sense something fishy going on. The vibe around Karl was off, like icy and full of mysteries. John stepped closer, keeping his cool facade, even though his heart was racing, fueled with anger and determination to uncover the truth behind the strange incidents that had snatched away the orphans he cared for.
"Welcome to Three-One-Three," Karl greeted in a friendly yet hollow tone. "Can I, like, help you with anything?"
Then Karl received a notification on some secret panel only visible to him.

Karl murmured himself. "High threat? why is it different from Chloe and Amber?" he thought to himself. Karl tried to act all casual like a typical cashier.
John locked eyes with Karl, trying to read what lay beneath his nonchalant gaze. "I’m just looking for someone," John said, his voice low and chilly.
Karl raised an eyebrow, faking interest. "Oh, who? Maybe I can help you find her or him."
John leaned in closer at the cashier counter, narrowing the gap between them. "I’m on the hunt for a guy with tired eyes, who like playing mind games with others," he whispered, sending shivers down Karl’s spine.
Karl faintly smiled, trying not to show surprise, but his eyes sharpened, trying to decipher John’s intentions. "Hmm, sounds like you’re talking about someone intriguing. Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone matching that description."
John scrutinized Karl’s response, his eyes keenly searching for any hint of truth behind the facade. Despite Karl looking calm, John sensed a subtle tension beneath that friendly casual gaze. He believed Karl was hiding something — something dark and dangerous.
"Is that so?" John’s tone remained calm, yet carried a veiled threat. "I thought you were a smart guy. But now I find you acting all clueless."
Karl kept his smile, yet his eyes now slightly narrowed, watching John more alertly.
[DING]
Another notification popped up on Karl’s hidden panel, warning of a surge in emotional waves from the Shadow Human before him. He knew this guy meant business, and if left unchecked, could pose a serious threat that wouldn’t be easy to handle.
The panel suggested:
[ Enhance Defensive or Stay Neutral Attitude. ]
"I thought you came here for something simpler," Karl replied deflecting. "Maybe you just need to chill out? Free coffee, perhaps?"
John snorted, his gaze fixed on Karl. "You think I came all this way just for a cup of coffee?" He stepped closer, leaving only the cashier counter between them. "I’m after the man responsible for the deaths of the orphanage kids. Innocent children, treated like pawns in a twisted game."
Karl maintained his smile, though his heartbeat picked up. He didn’t know what John was talking about.
"Huh?" Karl furrowed his brow.
John then spilled about what had gone down, his emotions running high, divulging things that shouldn’t be said to regular folks.
But Karl, he got what John described. It was one of the effects of his system’s experiments, a hijack when trying to complete a quest from the "Common Sense Hijack System".
"I’m sorry for what happened to those children," Karl tried to show empathy. "But I don’t think it concerns me. I’m just a cashier here."
John got closer, his face growing colder. "I’m looking for the guy in the Spermberggirl video," he hissed. "I’ve traced the CCTV footage from Mr. X, and the guy came from the direction leading to this Convenience Store."
Karl thinly smiled, pretending not to know, "Dang, me? killed? crazy just because of a quick hijack, I’ve killed innocent kids in minutes." Karl muttered to himself. Karl acted like he was totally clueless.
Karl held his breath, realizing that even though John didn’t know him as the person behind the deaths of innocent children, this guy had some sharp intuition. John only knew the suspect he was looking for might have come from this store, and Karl understood that one small slip-up could get him caught red-handed.
"I really don’t know about the guy in the video you’re talking about," Karl said cautiously, still sporting his friendly smile, as if puzzled by John’s accusations. "But if what you say is true, maybe someone else came from here before? This place gets pretty busy, and I’m just a cashier."
John narrowed his eyes, assessing Karl’s answer with a sharp gaze. "Someone else, huh? You might be right," he mumbled, though clearly still suspicious. "But strangely, when I traced the last CCTV footage, the guy’s trail ended near this store. I thought, whoever works here might have a clue."
Karl chuckled softly, trying to respond casually, though he was nervous. "Well, I don’t have access to street CCTVs, but who knows? Sometimes weirdos do come here for coffee or snacks. If there’s any odd or suspicious customer, I’d definitely remember."
John stared at Karl for a moment, then seemed to make up his mind. "Alright," he said heavily. "I’ll be back if I find something." John turned slowly, walking out of the store.
As the door rang shut behind John, Karl breathed a sigh of relief but stayed on high alert. Notifications from his system were still open:
[WARNING] - Homo Obscura suspicious at you.
Karl knew this wasn’t the end of it. John, the Homo Obscura , had caught whiffs of the secrets Karl was hiding, and it was only a matter of time before he found more evidence. Karl decided that to face such a big threat, he needed to come up with a plan — not just to cover his tracks, but maybe to prepare preventive measures against this dangerous Shadow Human.

Meanwhile, Jane was bored. Peering out of her office, no drama there. She still hadn’t had the chance to nag at Karl today.
Trying to beat the boredom, she checked the CCTV recordings, "Maybe something weird is in this footage, perhaps Karl and Zoey are fooling around hahah..." said a MILF who loves to flip out.

She clicked through some footage, switching folders, until she reached one named ’Break Room’.
