Chapter 51: Chapter 51

Jason and Lily were shooketh, shivering from the heavy af sound behind them. Their hearts were pounding like crazy as they slowly turned around. Standing there was a dude rockin’ a black hoodie, tall as heck with a straight-up posture, his face hidden in the shadows.

"Hey... h-hey," Jason tried to force a smile, even though fear was written all over his face. "We were just... takin’ a casual stroll, no biggie."

The dude didn’t answer right away. His gaze was sharp and mysterious, making Jason and Lily feel even more uneasy. They could feel the chilling vibes all around them, like something was off in this joint.

"Are you... lookin’ for something?" the dude’s voice was lowkey scary, every word he said drippin’ with caution. The silence was deafening, swallowin’ them up, and Lily was tryin’ hard to keep her chill.

"Nah, we were just curious, ya know," Lily’s voice was shaky. "There was this story goin’ ’round ’bout a mysterious dude who roams these parts often, so... we were just makin’ sure."

The dude stayed silent, then took a step closer, eyeing them with an unreadable gaze. Jason and Lily took a step back, feelin’ trapped. But then, the dude just pulled out a key from his pocket and gave a slight smile.

"You better not meddle in stuff that ain’t yours," he said with a cold tone. "Some things are better left unknown."

After spittin’ those words, the dude turned around and bounced, leaving Jason and Lily still af frozen in their tracks. Their bodies felt drained, like all their energy got zapped. They glanced at each other, uncertainty written all over their faces.

Jason swallowed hard, whispering something to Lily. "Do you think... maybe that’s him? The dude we were talkin’ about earlier?"

Lily shook her head slowly, still lookin’ pale. "I... I don’t know. But this weird vibe, his way of talkin’... everything just feels too suspicious."

Jason nodded, his eyes still locked on the shadow of the dude who had now disappeared around the corner. "If it is him... we gotta be careful. This might be bigger than we thought. Who knows what’s really goin’ down around us."

Lily took a deep breath, tryin’ to calm herself down. "What should we do? We can’t keep pretendin’ we don’t know. But if we mess up... who knows what could happen to us?"

Jason fell silent, pondering the situation. "Maybe we need to gather more evidence. If we can confirm who he is, or what he’s up to, maybe we can report it to the authorities."

They both exchanged looks, knowing they had accidentally stumbled into some sketchy territory. They decided to tread carefully, but they also knew this mystery couldn’t just be left unsolved.

"I told you, it can’t possibly be Karl," Jason said.

"But there’s still a chance the dude we saw in the Spermberggirl video is Karl. The dude we just saw seemed bigger, he might seem shady but his body posture doesn’t match the dude in the Spermberggirl video." Lily explained.

Jason fell silent, observing Lily’s face still full of doubt. He felt a mix of fear and determination growing between them. "Okay Lily, if you say the dude we saw ain’t like the one in the Spermberggirl video, but why do you still think it might be Karl?"

Lily took a deep breath, then answered softly. "I might sound paranoid, but... everything has been weird since that video emerged. Somehow, I just feel like Karl’s involved, even though the evidence is still fuzzy. Maybe I’m just... overthinking it."

Jason nodded slowly, trying to understand. "I get what you mean. Sometimes our gut feelings are right. But, we can’t just accuse without solid proof."

Lily looked like she was pondering hard, her brows furrowing. "Yeah, I get it. But still, there are things that can’t be explained. Why was that dude so defensive? He could’ve just left without a word, but instead, he gave us a kinda... threatening warning."

"So you think... he’s hiding something?" Jason asked, his gaze piercing through the darkening night.

Lily nodded. "I think so. And if not Karl, then who?"

They fell silent for a moment, only the sound of the wind softly blowing around them. The silence only made the atmosphere more tense, and Lily felt increasingly on edge. The feeling that something big and dark was lurking around them started to grow.

"I think," Jason said softly, "we need to talk to people who’ve seen that jacket dude before. Maybe someone remembers other details. And about Karl... we gotta be careful. I still wanna believe he’s not involved, but if it turns out he knows more than he’s letting on..."

Lily nodded. "Yes, we have to be ready. We can’t just accuse anyone, but we can’t stay silent either. I’m sure if we dig for more info, we’ll find clear clues."

Jason sighed and shrugged, trying to calm his nerves. "Alright. Tomorrow, we start fresh. I’ll try to find out about the jacket dude, and maybe... keep a closer eye on Karl."

"Bring a camera tomorrow to record everything, Jason, we gotta document this. We could become famous because of this," Lily said excitedly.

"Lily? Seriously? You still wanna be an influencer?" Jason looked at Lily skeptically.

"Nope! Not an influencer! But a content creator!"

Jason sighed, Jason and Lily have been friends for a long time. Lily always blabbed on about her dreams of becoming a famous content creator, while Jason, quietly in love with Lily, had to listen to Lily to stay close to her.

"Whatever Lily, Let’s just head home now!"

Lily agreed, and they walked back home feeling relieved yet still on high alert. They knew the risks they faced, but they were determined not to give up until they found the truth.

However, as they turned to leave, behind a tree, a mysterious figure watched them from a distance. "They put themself in danger!" He said.

Ring....

His phone rang, showing Chloe’s name on the screen, Chloe sent a message:

"Uncle, do you truly want to uncover the cause of the weirdness happening to ordinary humans?"
