Claimed By A Dragon Prince-Chapter 33: Taking it Easy
Chapter 33: Taking it Easy
Lily was still confused about the events that happened. Dimitri, the dragon king, and her professor all claimed that she rid herself of the toxin and healed herself. She didn’t even know she could do that. No antidote was given nor did anyone pull the toxin out manually. Lily lay in bed Dimitri at his desk working close to her keeping an eye on any changes, or so he says.
"I’m fine, you know. Trinee checked me out. Why am I still stuck in bed?" Lily tried to get up, but immediately received a pointed look from her mate halting her movements. "That amount of toxin should have killed you. Trinee even said it. So like it or not you are resting today." Lily growled out in frustration needing to at least walk around.
A thought came to Lily’s mind that she knew her mate would never resist. "If I promise not to work and only engage in leisurely activities, can I get up?" Dimitri looked at his mate skeptically, wondering what she might be thinking. "Promise?" Lily nodded, pulling the covers back and sitting on the edge of the bed. Dimitri sighed, knowing he couldn’t keep her in that bed unless occupied by him too.
"Fine, you can get up. No overdoing it. For today simply rest." Lily quickly got up moving to the bathroom, Nina close behind her. "Would you like me to draw you a bath, my lady?" Lily nodded touching her shoulder that had been injured. *Maybe it’s because of mother....* She knew her mother was the moon goddess, but she hadn’t had a moment’s peace to contact her again.
She knew very little about what she had awakened and her mother didn’t have the chance to tell her before she woke up. Nina started her bath by adding essential oils to help relax her as well as lit a few candles. Helping her lady disrobe Nina could see that not even a scare had been left behind. Lily stepped into the bath feeling the waters begin to relax her stiff muscules.
Moments later she hears her mate walk in dismissing her maid before closing the door. "You scared me." Dimitri told her taking a sponge, soaking it in the water then draining it over her back. "I scared me. I know I’m not as durable as all of you, but I couldn’t let that thing attack Nina and Trinee." Lily couldn’t stand to lose people close to her since she only had a few that she cared about.
Dimitri touched the spot where there should have been a serious injury, the smooth skin not even leaving an indent from the claw. "Uncle said this happened before, you healing yourself close to death. Did you count on that to keep the darkling away?" Dimitri was concerned she was counting on things that weren’t certain and taking chances with her life alarmed him.
"No, I wasn’t, I swear! The first time it happened I wasn’t aware of it until your uncle told me. I thought he was full of it, healing me himself while trying to hide my weaknesses. Being wolfless usually means no self-healing, but on death’s door, I always seem to come back stronger than ever. I am still unsure of how I do it." Lily knew it might have something to do with her mother, but she was still coming to terms with her "Goddess mother".
Looking back at her mate she wondered how he would take the news about her mother. Wanting to speak with her mother more before revealing who she was. Lily kept her thoughts to herself as Dimitri wiped her skin down. "Maybe it has something to do with your origins. From the way your were treated growing up it seems the Wolf Clan didn’t even try to find out where you came from. I’ve had my second on it ever since we came back to the castle together."
Lily was surprised he would do this. Most wouldn’t even concern themselves with a beastless person, but Dimitri wanted to help her in any way he could. "Thank you. I have always wondered what happened to them. They just dropped my on the servants quarter’s steps when i was 6 years old. My pendant is my only keep sake."
Dimitri had picked it up when he came to see the destruction in her room as it had been torn off her. He had his mother making a protection chain to attach it too so Lily would always be safe. "Do you have my pendant? It must have fallen off when I was attacked." "Yes, the chain broke so I’ve had a new one commissioned for you. It should be ready by tomorrow."
Lily visibly relaxed hearing this knowing he would never damage it. "Thank you, my prince." She reached for his hand holding it to her cheek showing her affection for him. Dimitri turned his hand cupping her face rubbing his thumb over her cheek. "Don’t scare me like that again." freewebnoveℓ.com
Lily tried not to smile, but couldn’t help it just glad someone cared for her enough to tell her to be safe. "I can’t promise I won’t protect my friends again, but I can promise to think more before making rash decisions like that again." Her prince shook his head a smile on the corner of his mouth as he leans in to kiss her forehead.
"You will be the death of me woman." Lily giggled as she grabs his arm pulling him into the tub. "No, I will be your saving grace. Hopefully." Lily told her prince straddling his lap as she captures his lips in a passionate kiss. Her prince was shocked by the action, but pulled her against his chest taking over the kiss nipping at her lips.
"We will see about that." Dimitri growled out as he pulled her in for another kiss.
