[BL] Debut in Interstellar After Retiring as Grim Reaper-Chapter 168 - 167: Sport Event
Chapter 168: Chapter 167: Sport Event
Chapter 167: Sport Event
Initially, he didn’t even notice the soul around here considering how many trainees and staff were inside the court.
At this moment, the company decided to conduct a small sport event to refresh the trainees again. The sport in this era is relatively like what the ancient Earth has, especially since they are also trying to integrate what has been in the past. However, of course, there are differences.
Many of the sports required enough physical fitness but in this era, what is most crucial is actually mental power.
Unlike in the past wherein to last long in so specific sports, you must have enough physical fitness, but in this era, since the sports has been associated with high technology, mental power is highlighted. The higher the physical health, the longer you can of course endure the attacks of the opponent while the higher the mental power, the more time you can possibly attack your enemy.
What kind of sports requires this energy? Inspired by the ancient sport called badminton, this sport also focuses on hitting the racket to land on the opposing side. However, unlike the normal shuttlecock, this is way more different. It’s a ball formed by a special material for the players to engrave their mental power inside. That ball will have a different impact aside from how the players will attack their opponent. As it said, the higher the mental power the greater the advantage because it can have a powerful impact on the opponent.
But not just mental energy of course.
In order to receive the attack, it also needs physical power to withstand it. Furthermore, the setting isn’t just an ordinary court where they will be playing. Using the technology, they can adjust the location they want to play. There are also levels of the setting so they can adjust the difficulty. Right now, those trainees who have lower mental power or physical attributes choose to play at easier levels.
It’s actually a sport event wherein there’s no formal greetings and such. The staff just let them do the sports that they want while they assist and record them.
Some of those who have their own circle of friends quickly form their way to play with themselves. As for the others, it’s either they don’t want to play or for some other reasons.
One of it actually is about the intensity of the game. No matter how simple it sounds just hitting the ball to go to the other side, the physical workload and how draining to use the mental power is very exhausting especially to the people who are not into sports. The trainees themselves were into dancing and singing and they hardly had the chance to do it except when they were in school.
Although some of them have an intense training like Shen Lou who was from the military family. Even if he didn’t enter the army, it was still customary in the family to train their bodies and mental power.
Shen Lou certainly wanted to play but it was hard finding another player to match him. The other trainees were either not the same on his physique and mental attributes or they were just intimated. But just as he was disappointed, Han Suwen unexpectedly stepped forward and asked him to play with him.
The crowd around were stunned. Han Suwen actually wanted to challenge Shen Lou?!
"!!!" This piece of news quickly spread around everyone and they surrounded them.
"Suwen, are you sure?" Xing Ren asked worriedly.
Han Suwen’s face was very casual as he nodded. "I want to."
The crowd gasped again. How could he have the courage? Han Suwen’s physique is A while his mental attribute is S. It’s quite high but Shen Lou has S level in physical strength and S+ in mental power! It may look like just one level ahead but the gap of strength is not! Even increasing one’s mental power is too hard, how much for someone like them?
"Tch!" Han Baiwei couldn’t help but snort. "You’re just overestimating yourself." He commented but Han Suwen didn’t react and was just calmly looking at Shen Lou.
As for him, he was a bit hesitant especially that it’s not just the levels of their skill but so as their capability. Shen Lou certainly experienced it, but what about Han Suwen?
Yet looking at the resolute decision on his face, Shen Lou decided to accept it.
Since it was his decision himself, why not take it?
When the staff heard the commotion, almost all the cameras quickly changed direction to record the upcoming battle.
"How about you decide on the level of location?" Shen Lou asked the young man. Han Suwen knew that he was accommodating him and he was not hypocrite to say no for this advantage.
Han Suwen chose the sky location. As they wore protective clothing and equipment to immerse themselves, the location of the court changed drastically. The crowd were outside the platform where they could sit and watch.
Clouds and the bright sky formed on the venue and so as the huge net in the middle as the barrier. Below them were mountains and seas which they can hardly see due to their high location above the sky. Then, small flat rocks appear and float in the different corners of the court as their stepping stones to jump in order to catch the ball later.
"Is everyone ready?" Jiang Su asked as the referee of their battle. Both Han Suwen and Shen Lou nod so a whistle sounded and a signal that the game officially starts.
The first one to serve was Han Suwen. He gathered up his mental power to the ball and aimed it high before hitting it using the racket.
The ball went fast on the other side and Shen Lou nimbly cach it using his racket and fired back with the strength of his mental energy on it.
Even though Han Suwen knew that the young man would definitely try to hold back to match his level, when he received the ball, he could certainly feel the power on it. It made his hand slightly tremble but he managed to hit it back forward.
This situation is what happened for the past few minutes. They are fast to jump and transfer to the other side of each floating stone, never reacting to how high they are right now. Shen Lou was moving very quickly but it can be seen that he was very calm and steady. As for Han Suwen, they noticed the sweat starting to form on his forehead and his hands were turning slightly red due to the force. But even with this, the young man can still catch up and even fire the ball back with still the same intensity.
As it goes by, some trainees couldn’t help but feel amazed by Han Suwen’s endurance.
Their level has a huge gap even if it’s just one level short. Shen Lou has all the advantages in this game— the experience and his strength. Yet even with this, Han Suwen’s perseverance in continuing the game with such consistent attacks despite the exhaustion feeling made the others start to admire him.
There’s actually a prejudice against him. His appearance was unlike his attitude. He inherited his mother’s peach blossom eyes that gave people a feeling of being cunning and seductive. He was also slim and looked more inline to the feminine style like Cao Ming. That is why some trainees don’t like him, especially since they knew his background.
In their circle, it is widely known that he was the illegitimate son of the Han family. If it weren’t that the family values blood connection, he will never have the chance to set foot in that house, especially his mother who was a known prostitute in a private brothel.
