Bastard Homunculus: Reborn in the Corpse Pit-Chapter 175: Monster Queen Elimination(Part 1)
Chapter 175: Chapter 175: Monster Queen Elimination(Part 1)
"Looks like this is the place. Once it’s time to make our move, spread out and eliminate the pack, be as covert as possible. Fall back if it gets too dangerous, I just need you to clear a path to the Monster Queen, I’ll handle the rest from there," Remarked Jules quietly.
"Understood, Commander."
"You can count on us."
It was the 18th of October, 1919. A meeting had been held the previous day, with Jules declaring her intention to eliminate the remaining Monster Queens as quickly as possible.
The seven that had been estimated to be at around Critical Level were the main focus, and the strongest among the Knight Order had been selected to take them on.
Jules herself was one of them, along with Aster, Raven, Celia, Tacitus, Rione and Fyre. While there were others who were at or close to the same level as the seven of them, Jules concluded that the skillsets of these seven were the best-suited to soloing powerful Monsters.
Each of them were accompanied by teams made up of First and Second-Class Knights, to deal with the Monsters protecting their respective Queens. That way, those tasked with eliminating the Queens could conserve some energy, instead of getting worn out fighting the swarms before taking on the Monster Queens.
The other Irregulars, Colt, Lexia and Ravella, along with Siele, Tilda, Wein, Akila, and several First-Class Knights, had been assigned to take on the Monster Queens that had been estimated to be on par with High Level Threats.
As for the Monster Queens comparable to Mid Level Threats, teams of Second-Class Knights had been deployed to handle those ones.
Most of the remaining Knights had been divided into teams, tasked with dealing with the swarms of the Monster Queens’ offspring, to make things easier for those assigned to eliminate the Monster Queens themselves.
The Knights were launching a simultaneous assault on all the Monster Queens, and they were currently minutes away from the specified time at which they were to begin their assault.
And as for the last Monster Queen that had been sensed, Jules decided that they should exercise the utmost caution with that one, and surmised that it would be best if they dealt with that one after the other Monster Queens were defeated.
She’d suggested that they assume it was a threat on the level of the Undead King and Leptar, and with that in mind, the strongest among them would group up and take it on together after the other Monster Queens were dealt with.
"Alright, it’s time to move out. Keep your guards up, do not get complacent until we’re absolutely certain that all the Monsters in the area are dead," Instructed Jules, focusing up as she thought to herself, "The others have likely begun as well by now, I hope it’s going well."
Meanwhile, in a swamp in the Flourite Forest...
"Man, this sucks. I mean, I get it and all, but it’s still frustrating...not that I wanted to fight a Critical Level Threat, but it would’ve been nice to have been considered. Instead, I-...," Sighed Ravella, before trailing off and swinging her whip across as the Monster Queen began to step towards her, eliciting a sharp screech of pain as she continued, "Hey, I’m talking here! No need to be so impatient, I’ll get to killing you in a sec."
She was up against a Giant Frog Monster Queen. It had mutated into a more humanoid figure, with a hunched back. Curved bone spikes extended down along its spine, and it had more bone spikes protruding out of the middle of its fingers.
It also had two tongues, and a crooked fin over its left forearm. The team that had accompanied Ravella didn’t have much trouble dealing with the Giant Frogs protecting the Queen, since they were only Low Level Threats.
After they provided her an opening, Ravella cornered the Queen, while the other Knights were busy fending off the remaining Giant Frogs to keep them from interfering.
"Alright, whatever, let’s get this over with," Sighed Ravella, before firing out a rapid bolt of light energy at the Monster.
It swiftly bent down and sprung up into the air rapidly, launching itself several meters up and above Ravella’s attack, before it launched its tongues down towards her with immense speed.
As the long, sticky tongues zipped down towards Ravella, she shot forward as they closed in on her, a couple of wet smacks echoing out behind her as the tongued struck the ground, before she swiftly whipped her right arm up and across as the Monster Queen began to plummet, firing out a rapid, slashing wave of light.
The Monster Queen quickly retracted its tongues and launched them back out towards a tree, the tongues sticking to the trunk as it began to pull itself out of the way, before screeching in pain as the attack sliced across its left side, inflicting a deep gash across that spot.
Blood streamed down its side as the Monster Queen’s feet thudded against the tree before it rapidly slid down across the trunk, quickly leaping off as Ravella unleashed a fierce light blast towards it.
A sharp crash rang out as her blast struck the side of the tree, before she swiftly swung her whip across while extending it out, striking the side of the Monster Queen’s neck and wrapping around it before the mutated creature could react, a strangled gasp ringing out before Ravella unleashed a barrage of light arrows towards it.
The Monster desperately clawed at the whip tightly constricted around its neck, managing to unwind it and then sprang away, several arrows striking its left side and piercing through, trickles of blood running down its body.
It then snarled before charging towards Ravella as fast as it could, the bone spikes extending out of its fingers growing slightly before it leapt forward as it closed in on her, whipping its right arm across at her head.
Ravella swiftly ducked under the swing of its arm, before slamming her palm against the middle of its torso and unleashed a devastating, concentrated burst of light, a blinding flash erupting out as the Monster Queen got sent hurtling back through the air, before its back slammed onto the side of a tree.
A couple of the bone spikes on its back snapped off upon impact, a shudder of pain running across its body before it desperately scrambled away as a rapid, drilling beam of light came barreling in towards it.
A loud crash rang out as the beam slammed against the tree, tearing through the trunk before bursting out, the sound of wood splintering and creaking echoing out as the tree began to bend, before breaking and falling over, a deafening crash ringing out as the tree collided onto the ground with a devastating impact.
The Monster Queen rushed towards the thick clouds of dust rising up around the fallen tree, before Ravella shot forward and cracked her whip across with a sharp flick of her wrist, the whip slicing through the air before striking and wrapping around the Monster’s left ankle.
Ravella then planted her feet and gave the whip a powerful yank, pulling the Monster Queen off-balance and bringing it down on one knee, before she unleashed a couple of light slashes towards it.
The Monster howled in pain as the attacks sliced through its left heel and right calf, blood spurting out and streaming onto the ground, before it shakily turned its gaze back as its blood seeped into the dirt.
It froze as it spotted Ravella sprinting it towards it, before opening its mouth and shooting its tongues out towards her.
Ravella swiftly extended a blade of light along her right palm and whipped it across as the tongues closed in on her, slicing through them and severing a few inches off the tips, the Monster shuddering in pain as blood squirted out of the stumps left around the ends of its tongues.
It then frantically began to crawl away as Ravella began to close in on it, before letting out a roar of exertion as she leapt forward and swung her whip down with all her strength, slamming it against the top of the Monster Queen’s head and severely dazing it.
"I suppose I’ve taken enough time to let off some steam, time to end this," She declared, before firing out a piercing beam of light, hitting the back of the Monster’s head, drilling through its skull and brain before bursting out its forehead.
The Monster Queen went limp and slumped against the ground, bleeding out profusely from the numerous injuries Ravella had inflicted.
Ravella let out a quiet sigh as she retracted her whip and put it away in her Storage Ring, stretching her arms up as she began to head back towards the other Knights, who had finished eliminating all the Giant Frogs.
"Well, that takes care of that. It was easier than I thought, that thing was definitely on the lower end of what qualifies as a High Level Threat. Still, considering that it came from a Low Level species, that’s a pretty significant increase in power. I just hope things are going just as smoothly for the others."
