Anna touched the spot where Lin Da had kissed her, looking as if she had been struck dumb by lightning.

"Captain, what are you doing? Didn’t we agree that I should be the last one? If you treat me like this, my talent will go to waste!"

The young girl let out a sigh, her expression filled with helplessness.

Upon ascending to the Sacred Rank, Anna mastered the [Law of Pain].

The greater her own suffering, the more powerful her strength became.

Lin Da giving her a "green hat" was essentially a permanent buff; yet Lin Da’s actions now could very well purify that buff away.

"I understand your feelings."

Lin Da held Anna in his arms and said solemnly, "It is precisely this power that allowed you to join the Primitive Adventure Team. Without it, you might have been cast out of the team by the past me.

But things are different now, Anna. You no longer need to keep enduring pain. Every member of the Phoenix Tail Team is the future oath-bound of me, Lin Da. I will not abandon even a single one."

With the team’s numbers soon reaching and perhaps surpassing ten, Lin Da still maintained the resolve to shoulder the burden of countless beautiful girls, showcasing the magnanimity and responsibility of a true hero.

Looking at the stunned Anna, Lin Da clasped her hand, then took Lia’s hand, and said sincerely:

"After today’s battle, let’s hold a grand party to celebrate."

Anna’s hand was enveloped by Lin Da’s broad, strong hand, its rough calluses like coarse sand, bringing her a sense of profound reassurance.

She nodded with a smile, though for some reason, she gained a deeper understanding of the Law of Pain, quietly condensing three more fragments of the Law.

The better the man before her treated her, the harder it became for Anna to bear the thought of sharing with at least a dozen others.

Lia grew a bit flustered and withdrew her hand with a tug. "What are you doing? You’re making it seem like we’re parting forever."

Lin Da sighed, "Speaking of which, if you hadn’t invited me to become an adventurer and join Snow Goose, perhaps I’d still be idling away my days in White Dove City, content with being a small-time merchant."

"Is that so? Well, then you’d better thank this lady properly!" Lia said triumphantly, hands on her hips.

Lin Da, without hesitation, embraced the girl with fiery red hair and planted a kiss on her.

Lia’s cheeks flushed crimson, but she stomped her foot angrily in retaliation, only for Lin Da to easily anticipate her move and dodge it with ease.

The beautiful girls were kissed, the pre-battle pep talk was complete.

Only the final step remained.

"Lia, Anna, for today’s battle, lend me your strength!"

"Hmph, this lady will give you a hand."

"Captain, Anna will answer your call with her all!"

The three exchanged smiles.

"Then… let’s go!"

Lin Da took their hands, spread his Light Wings, and headed for the darkened mountain ahead.

...

One hundred miles passed in the blink of an eye.

Midway up the mountain, Lin Da retracted his Light Wings and landed on the steep mountain path.

Dragon Fall Mountain Peak carried a legend: once, a celestial dragon and a Sacred Rank adventurer had arranged a great duel here. The battle was ferocious.

Though the adventurer emerged victorious, he succumbed to his own grave injuries atop the summit. To commemorate this battle, the World Tree Goddess transformed the mountain with divine power, creating winding paths and uneven stone stairs. The summit was leveled and adorned with a statue of the Dragon Slayer.

The people of Dragon’s Rest Tomb were gathering here, their motives unclear.

"If Xilin can be purified and my sister brought back, we should be able to uncover the demons’ purpose.

Xilin, as a high-ranking member of the demon clan and one of the Twelve Belongings, likely holds considerable inside information.

Perhaps the truth behind Coldmoon Duke’s betrayal could also be learned from her,"

Lin Da contemplated.

Stepping firmly on the solid bluestone, he raised his head and looked toward the summit.

The demons were waiting there.

Even across hundreds of meters, one could feel the terrifying and vast magic power radiating forth.

This was absolutely not the aura of just one or two individuals.

With the understanding his sister had of him, daring to let him come here meant she had absolute confidence in subduing him.

But, what she definitely would not expect—hidden at the top of the Ice Tower was a Witch.

And not just any witch—a top-tier magic pharmacist!

Lin Da took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and reopened them with unwavering calm.

Carrying the Ancient-Level [Wind Shadow Sword], he ascended the bluestone steps toward the summit.

Dark clouds were swept along by the wind, allowing a beam of dazzling light to descend upon Lin Da.

As he walked, the clouds shifted.

More and more light spilled over the ancient winding stairway.

Like stage spotlights, the glow guided his path forward.

As if Lin Da’s presence dispelled the darkness looming over Dragon Fall Mountain Peak.

Tap, tap.

The steady sound of his footsteps resonated once a second.

Should one listen closely, they’d find the rhythm was neither too fast nor too slow, perfectly measured.

Lin Da took a step forward, appearing to advance by just one tier, but on closer inspection, he had covered dozens of meters.

The towering Dragon Fall Mountain Peak—reached in less than a minute.

Lin Da took his final step.

Tap!

The crisp and forceful sound echoed like thunder in a rainy night, shattering the silence.

Whoosh—

Gales erupted.

Dust swirled atop the mountain, resembling yellowed clouds.

The Dragon Slayer Hall had long since collapsed, weeds growing amidst fragmented rubble, dilapidated and desolate.

Lin Da gazed indifferently forward.

There, a dense mass of demons clad in black robes awaited.

Their numbers exceeded three hundred.

Their robes billowed in the wind, like banners upon a battlefield.

Each person’s chest bore an emblem: a black dragon clawing its way out of a coffin, its crimson eyes surveying the earth.

The demons were stationed along the summit’s edge, forming a blockade, with only the winding mountain path left as an entrance.

They silently observed Lin Da and his companions.

The sheer number was enough to obliterate Dragon Fall Mountain Peak in an instant.

Roughly half of them seemed to be spellcasters; should their magic strike simultaneously, not even a Heavy Armored Warrior or a Heaven Rank adventurer could endure.

Lin Da remained composed, undisturbed by the piercing stares of the demons as he walked steadily to the center.

Behind him, Lia carried a flaming great sword on her shoulder, glaring angrily at every demon she met.

Anna, in a black dress and holding a black umbrella, smiled gracefully, poised and untroubled.

Despite being outnumbered more than three hundred to three, the White Dove United showed no trace of fear.

This unconcerned attitude left many demons silently astonished.

Lin Da moved step by step to the middle of the summit, standing firm as he looked ahead.

This time, his gaze flickered with emotion.

"Witch, Xilin…"

He whispered softly.

A man and a woman stood above the ruins of the Dragon Slayer statue.

Since setting foot here, Lin Da’s eyes hadn’t once strayed to any other demon, fixated solely on them.

The tranquility within him was finally disturbed...

PS:

*Ahem.*

I’m Panda, the author of this book—let me share some updates about the recent progression.

Perhaps many of you have noticed, last month’s updates were quite erratic.

Partly because of health issues, but mostly due to mental ones.

Since a certain platform adjusted its recommendation algorithm, older books have been facing declining traffic, especially less mainstream ones like mine.

Daily new collections are minimal, sometimes even negative.

Even the slight increase in collections often comes from readers finishing the free chapters and downloading pirated TXT files instead.

I’m practically writing out of sheer love at this point.

Fortunately, there’s still a small crowd supporting this book—some even casting daily recommendation votes. For them, this book will definitely reach its ending.

However...

With the current meager earnings, delivering a quality conclusion is undoubtedly challenging, particularly as I’m paying off loans and genuinely need more manuscript revenue.

Thus, I’ve made this decision:

After completing the chapters about the sister, I’ll tie up loose ends, skim through mid-story developments, and directly shift to the final showdown at the Demon King’s Castle.

If all goes as planned, the book will conclude this month. Updates might be irregular, but the ending is guaranteed—you’ve all read up to this point, after all. Panda will ensure the story finishes without regrets.

Thank you to everyone who made it here!
