Chapter 1971: 564 King of Mimics

Matthew’s body had just crossed into the Crystal Tower when the space around him suddenly underwent a violent distortion.

But he didn’t care about that. Clutching the remains of the Ancient Death God, he quickly opened up his negative energy domain to protect himself and used the power of Lost Paradise to stabilize the remains!

As for the surrounding spatial turbulence,

he hardly paid any attention!

Soon,

the lower half of the Crystal Tower changed from transparent to a cloudy purple hue, with a mass of small bumps and sharp barbs erupting from its purplish surface.

It transformed in an instant from a tower into an enormous crystalline moth creature!

“Ssssssss…”

The crystalline moth creature let out a triumphant hiss.

Black Light poured out from its underside like a waterfall. In a breath, the black light turned into an irresistible black hole, swallowing both the moth itself and Matthew, who was in its belly, completely clean!

Warning: You have been swallowed by the Crystal Lord!

Tip: You’ve arrived at the “Evil Spirit World’s Treasure Chest Plane”!

Within the body of the Crystal Lord,

Matthew easily controlled the Death God’s remains and, with a seldom-used shovel in hand, pried against the flesh wall within the Crystal Lord.

“Ssssssss!”

The Crystal Lord shuddered in pain.

The mouth located at the back of its head opened violently, and then the creature swelled with a storm-like yellow mist from within.

The yellow mist was so forceful it blasted Matthew, who was dragging the Ancient Death God’s remains, right out of its body!

Whoosh!

Matthew, using the power of his domain, kept the yellow mist at bay.

Then, he deftly activated a flying spell and hovered steadily in mid-air.

The Crystal Lord suddenly arched its back, and then, unexpectedly, did not bother with Matthew and swiftly burrowed into the ground to escape.

Matthew didn’t make things difficult for it.

“Is this the Treasure Chest Plane?”

He looked around.

He discovered that the so-called Treasure Chest Plane was actually built upon an extremely vast wilderness.

The ground color of the wilderness was pitch black, covered with a thick layer of black moss studded with various metal ores.

However, the most eye-catching sight was the seemingly endless skeletons of humans or other intelligent races on the wilderness!

Next to each pile of remains, there were traces of mimic monster activity.

Numerous adventurers had met their end here.

This led to the wilderness being littered with various types of equipment, items, clothes, weapons, ornaments, documents, etc…

Of course,

most of them were rotted away.

Only a very small part seemed like they might still have some value for reuse.

But even though the chances of finding good items among these battle loots were low, you couldn’t overlook the sheer volume!

Matthew glanced over once and was able to ascertain.

If he could take over the Treasure Chest Plane, it would be enough to arm an army of over three hundred thousand, equipped to a high standard!

Such volume was already a very exaggerated figure on the Aindor Continent!

“This place looks like a super-gigantic junkyard, a garbage collector’s dream…”

Even though he was no longer poor, Matthew couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the sight of equipment and items discarded all over the place.

But very soon,

his small greed subsided quite a bit.

Because he saw some mobile creatures in the distance.

Matthew quickly approached.

Then,

he saw a group of humanoid bodies wandering aimlessly across the wilderness, their heads crowned with rotting treasure chests.

At first, Matthew thought they were undead.

But upon closer inspection,

he realized these beings were still alive!

They were simply forced to bear the curse of the treasure chests!

“Such strong greed and pain…”

“These are a type of Evil Spirits; they’ve been forced into transformation, enduring endless torment here!”

Matthew’s heart grew solemn.

He glanced at the data panel.

These creatures, meandering like the walking dead with treasure chests on their heads, were identified as “Treasure Box Wanderers.”

The name sounded fine.

But only by understanding the existence of these beings could one realize the agony of their cursed lives!

“Do you think it was me who turned them into this?”

A faint voice floated from behind Matthew:

“That isn’t the case.”

“Their enthusiasm for treasure chests was touching, so I exerted just a little effort to help them fulfill their wishes.”

“Now, they will never be parted from the treasure chests they are so passionate about. Isn’t that a good thing?”

“Of course.”

“In fact, if they could let go of their inner greed, the treasure chests on their heads would naturally wither away, giving them a chance to regain their Selves.”

“Regrettably, all the intelligent beings I’ve seen have been unable to overcome the greed that festers in their souls.”

“They are always chasing, always taking, without a care for the feelings of others or the environment.”

“They consider themselves the spirit of all things, the lords of the Universe, yet it’s funny they can’t even master their own hearts.”

“So, it isn’t me who shackled or cursed them.”

“It’s the greed inherent in intelligent beings that nourishes the treasure chests on their heads.”

“Of course, I greatly enjoy all of this.”

“Especially the thought of placing a treasure chest on the head of the legendary ‘Matthew the Destroyer’ excites me beyond control, hahahaha…”

As the other was speaking,

Matthew had already turned around to see his full figure.

“I never thought that the legendary ‘King of Mimics’ would actually be a mimic monster himself?”
