Chapter 364: Consequences
[A Personal Quest has been opened.]
Curiously, Magnus clicked on and looked through the description.
[Personal Quest I - Path To A...]
"Hmm! What do you think of this Quest, Triss?" Magnus asked, looking at the man sitting in front of him.
"Well... it’s good. You should have the coins, right? Let us go there and create an order as soon as possible... or else, you know how these people crawl into every place like some nuggets," Triss murmured, thinking of a plan to benefit from the dungeons.
"Right. I never understand why you hate normal people this much," Magnus sighed, looking at the old man in front of him.
"They don’t deserve anything but hate... only know how to leech off people like us," Triss replied with a clear disdain on his face.
Before he could go on, Magnus pressed the button under his table. Seeing him do that Triss understood the hint and became silent.
A few seconds later, a man entered the room and asked, "Any orders, sir?"
"Prepare all the team as soon as possible... we will be going to have a visit at this new dungeon," Magnus ordered.
Although the government was controlling most of the forces, the ICA had its own forces unit as well. On top of that, each family now extended their personal army by employing numerous hunters or adventurers.
Nodding her head, the attendant left the room as Magnus stood up as well. Triss followed suit as both of them began to move toward a place where it would be appropriate to create the portal.
"Anyway... how is your sister? I miss her so much." While moving, Magnus tried to have a casual conversation.
"She is alright... recently, she even evolved to Tier III."
"And how is my niece? Have her symptoms calmed down, or is it the same?"
"It’s the same... I think I have to find someone with the ability to erase memories and remove ’that’ part of her memory. No matter how much I try, she constantly blames herself for all that," Triss replied, taking a deep breath.
"I mean, I’m not blaming you or anything... but I think you took that shit too far. I mean, killing them was one thing... you even ordered his family to be raped and tortured. You even threw that child in prison... sigh!" Magnus said, looking down.
"You as well, Magnus... don’t you remember how close I was to filing bankruptcy because of that motherfuck– Sigh! Let’s just forget about that..." Midway through his sentence, Triss became silent.
Not wanting to give his brother-in-law a hard time, Magnus stopped asking his question and instead tried to connect telepathically with someone else. He tried and tried again, but the connection didn’t go through.
’Where is he? Has he already entered the dungeon? That would be the perfect place,’ Magnus thought, thinking about a particular person. Someone he still felt lucky to have met early on.
"Well, he certainly has gone..." Magnus whispered, looking at the portal shimmering in front of him.
Moving forward, he tried to enter it but instantly felt something blocking his entrance. Realizing the man must have chosen the personal option, Magnus moved to the side and fed the notification a million coins.
Somewhat identical, another portal appeared in front of him. Before entering it, Magnus sent the signal, notifying everyone about the portal... so no one else spends their million.
"Shall we go then..."
Triss nodded as both of them entered the portal.
"Quite a lot of people are already here," Magnus said, looking at the crowd around them.
"Yeah, told yo—" Triss was about to say something, but words stuck in his throat as he felt a hand grabbing his neck.
Triss tried to move but he found himself losing his body’s control.
’What is this...’ Magnus stumbled back as his eyes widened.
Gulping, he tried to understand but couldn’t think of anyone who could have bloodlust of this level. Stopping his thoughts, he quickly sprang into action.
A layer of aura covered his body as Magnus quickly sprang into action. Looking at the general location from where it was coming, Magnus was about to locate it when the bloodlust disappeared...
The crowd’s reaction began to come as everyone once again gained their ability to breathe.
"WHAT was that... did you feel it too?"
"I thought I was about to die there..."
"What even was that..."
"This is how I felt when I was about to die for the first time..."
"Are we really about to die today... can anyone explain what that was?"
"Hey! Look here, a few people passed out." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Calming himself, Magnus looked around and whispered, "Triss, are you alrigh-"
He turned around, but Triss was gone.
"Did I push him into the portal?" he thought, remembering how he had stumbled back when hit with the bloodlust.
Entering the portal, he found Triss in the room. Seeing him gasping for breath, he left him there and returned to the dungeon area.
’Who was it...’ Now that the initial danger had passed, Magnus looked around, trying to find the culprit behind the incident.
While looking around, he quickly found an anomaly. While everyone was in a state of panic, there was a group that appeared normal. It looked like they were unaffected by the bloodlust.
’Are they the ones...’ Magnus thought, looking at that certain group.
The more he looked at them, the more he felt something was off with them. He couldn’t put his finger on it yet, but he knew he couldn’t be wrong.
Trying to be one hundred percent certain, Magnus thought of something.
’Let’s see if you are the one...’ Thinking, Magnus directed some of his bloodlusts toward the man who looked like the leader—the man with the white hair.
Wossshhh!
The moment he did that, he felt something horrifying. All six people around the man looked directly at him as he felt his life slipping away.
’Arghhh!...’ His voice couldn’t escape his throat as he felt a web tightening around it.
Flaming cold filled his body as he found his shadow betraying him. He couldn’t even die... it was like he had no control over it.
Stumbling back, he accidentally entered the portal as well.
