Chapter 362: Humanity’s Failure

Looking at Dhruv, Coby explained what he meant, "Selling the right of your species means anyone throughout the cosmos can now buy organs, skills, or spells created by your species..."

"Hmmm! Does that mean that the organs I see listed are from the progenitors who have given up their right to sell the items on the cosmic store?" Dhruv asked, trying to be as sure as possible.

"Yes, exactly..." Coby nodded his head.

Hearing the confirmation, Dhruv became silent for a few seconds as numerous thoughts began appearing in his head. As time passed, some things began to clear up.

’So this is the reason an organ could have the name of a species in front of it... like dragon’s claws, phoenix’s wings, and things like that.’

At first, he had thought that it was just there to show the property of the item and not literally part of that race... but clearly, things have been different from his thought.

Stopping himself from going deep into the rabbit hole, Dhruv looked at Coby and asked, "What would I get in return, and forget about that, what could I even sell that my species has produced?"

"Well, there are two things you can get from this... first is coins... and the second... the second is something I can only tell if you agree. And as for what you can sell... there are plenty..."

"...You can sell the brain... to lesser species. Your eyes... limbs and things like that..." Coby replied, listing each of the organs Dhruv could sell.

’He can’t tell me the second reason why? Does it involve something worth giving up the species’ rights...’ Dhruv thought but quickly shook his head. He couldn’t act on the unknown information.

Looking at the cosmic being floating in front of him, he opened his mouth, "So Coby, can I ask a question?"

"Well, ask if you like, but don’t expect an answer for everything..."

"Yeah! I got a hint of that from the previous questions."

"Hahaha! Go on then..."

"So how does this happen... I mean, how can my organ be implanted in any other species or how does this work?" Dhruv asked, not expecting an answer, but to his surprise, an answer came.

"It’s not that complicated... if you give permission, the mark will copy your genetic information and then implement it in anyone who wants to have the organs. As it is information and not a literal thing... a single organ can be given unlimited times..."

"...I mean, it’s not unlimited, and like everything in the cosmos, it needs energy as well. Energy of any sort." Coby replied, giving him a quick rundown of how things work.

’Hmm! Now this makes more sense compared to them popping up out of nowhere...’ Thinking, Dhruv looked back at Coby and asked,

"So, does that mean for an organ to have appeared on the list... someone has to naturally evolve it and make it like that?"

"Yeah... something like that. Wait, did you think it magically appears?"

"No... of course not. What kind of idiot would I have to be to think like that?" Dhruv coughed.

"Remember, nothing appears out of nowhere... nothing," Coby murmured. After pausing for a bit he lifts his eyebrows as if asking something.

"What?" Dhruv asked.

"So what is your decision... do you want to sell your species to the cosmos or not?"

"I’m not hundred percent sure yet..." Pausing for a bit Dhruv asked,

"...So Coby I wanted to ask is there any danger in selling my species like this?" Dhruv asked, very conscious about his safety.

"Well, there isn’t any particular danger... but like how any progenitor can track their species’ organs, the reverse can be true as well. The latter can only be performed by very high-tier monsters, so it generally isn’t a problem." Coby explained, recalling some incidents.

’Reverse tracking... only powerful monsters can do it... wait a minute haven’t I already involved myself with things like this through the Phoenix progenitor?’ Dhruv thought, gulping a mouthful of saliva.

"Say... Coby, can’t I choose to give you an answer some other time, or is this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?" Dhruv asked, wanting to seek his guardians’ opinions—especially Aurora’s—before making the final decision.

"Nah! You can answer me anytime you want, but remember to be quick." Saying these words, Coby snapped his fingers and disappeared from the realm.

"And how am I going to connect with you– and he is gone... man this Coby is really strange.." Dhruv whispers not liking how Coby appears and disappears without having a care in the world.

Sighing!... He called the rest of the guardians back and was about to start the talk when a notification appeared in front of him. A cosmic message that was being displayed throughout the planet.

***

A child lifted his head as the information about the notification filled his brain... With eyes full of fear and confusion, he asked his mother, "Mom, we failed!..."

The leader of a clan was staring at the same notification, his fists clenched, not wanting to accept the reality.

"Even with all the hard work... we still failed in the end..." he muttered under his breath.

An unknown man was looking at the same notification with no reaction at all. From the meeting, he had expected this outcome...

"So what happens next..." he sighed, looking at the screen in front of him.

Everyone in the world seemed to hold their breath, a collective pause as everyone waited for the punishment they believed they deserved.

"We did our best..."

"...Yet wasn’t it enough?"

"We’re going to be punished."

"So, what will it be..."

...They were waiting for the punishment but instead, something else appeared.
