70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 586: Checking Answers
"It’s unnecessary to be polite among family." Li Caixia waved her hand dismissively.
Then she asked them what they had eaten today, and if they had been sick or anything.
The two obediently answered, but they didn’t stay long. When the rain started pouring, it became inconvenient for Li Caixia to return.
When she got home, Yin Yang had already taken Xu Mumu back to the villa.
The Old Xu Family was quite anxious; after all, several children from the Xu Family were taking the college entrance exams this year.
"Sigh, I didn’t even dare to ask how Minglei did when I visited." Li Caixia said wistfully, having lost her appetite.
"They’ll surely be fine, don’t let your mind wander," Xu Hai looked at his wife helplessly, feeling a bit uneasy himself.
"Mom, want some apples?" Jiang Yuxiu came over with a plate of sliced apples.
"Sister-in-law, I want some." Fengfeng, not understanding the fuss, just thought it was another exam. Having taken exams himself, he couldn’t figure out why his parents were so worried.
"Here you go." Jiang Yuxiu gave Fengfeng a bigger piece.
"I see Jiaojiao and the others aren’t upset; they must have done well," Xu Hai reassured his wife.
"That’s easy for you to say; you’re not the one taking the exams. We’ve seen so many who didn’t pass." Li Caixia couldn’t help but retort at her husband, though she couldn’t quite believe her children would fail, she couldn’t shake off the worry.
"Can’t you think positively? Mumu said they’ll be fine, so they definitely will be." Xu Hai was a bit exasperated.
"Yes, yes, Mumu said so." The words of their daughter held weight in Li Caixia’s heart, putting her somewhat at ease.
Xu Minghui twitched a bit at the corner of his mouth, to him, it was no big deal.
The siblings’ grades were good, and they were still young. Even if they didn’t pass this year, retaking wouldn’t be a problem. Compared to other students, they were still quite young.
But he didn’t say this out loud; if he did, his dad would definitely chase him with a broom.
The college entrance exams lasted only three days. For Xu Mumu and the other kids, the time passed quickly; for Li Caixia and the others, it was like years went by.
When the kids walked out of the examination rooms, everyone at home breathed a sigh of relief.
Once the exams were over and back home, Li Caixia had prepared plenty of food for them.
"These must be made by grandma, they’re delicious, so glad the exams are over." Xu Minglei said contentedly after taking a bite of chicken leg, feeling exhausted, like he was completely drained.
"You little rascal, looking for a beating, huh?" Li Caixia slapped her son on the back playfully. She was often criticized by her sons for her cooking; wanting them to eat well, she had bought the ingredients specially, though her mother-in-law made the food.
She glanced disdainfully at her sons, wondering why she once thought they were so good. Now they seemed like trouble; she still found her daughters more considerate, these rascals just made her annoyed.
Used to being teased by his mother, Xu Minglei said: "Mom, we’ve been eating grandma’s cooking for years, your cooking just has a unique taste."
There was a time when their mother fell in love with cooking, much to the distress of the kids. Even with recipes, her cooking turned out strangely. They understood by now their mother didn’t have a knack for cooking.
Even at the fast-food restaurant, Xu Hai’s cooking was better than Li Caixia’s, so Madam Chen stopped letting Li Caixia assist her, opting for her son instead.
After eating their fill, the kids were tired and went to rest.
After they woke up, Xu Mumu and Yin Yang arrived in the evening, and the kids were discussing the exam questions.
This year’s college entrance exams were quite tough, with questions covering obscure points.
Listening to the discussion, Xu Mumu wasn’t surprised. With the exam having been restored for just a few years, difficulties would grow, leveling off later.
The difficulty has its merits, it better differentiates the students.
Xu Mumu went over to ask about their exam results, and the kids frankly shared their problem-solving approaches and answers.
The resources and exercises the kids used were similar, so their exam outcomes weren’t much different.
Ignoring the memorization-heavy subjects like Chinese, English, and politics, Xu Mumu focused on math, physics, and chemistry where the kids didn’t make any notable mistakes.
The last questions were quite challenging; only Xu Jiaojiao and Xu Minglei solved them, while Xu Tao and the others didn’t finish but wrote down their approaches, earning whatever points they could.
Overall, Xu Mumu was pleased with their results.
Receiving the favorable feedback from Xu Mumu reassured the kids about their performance. Having compared answers, they didn’t believe they’d done poorly.
Li Caixia and the others were visibly relieved. With Xu Mumu’s approval, everything seemed fine.
After the exams, the kids totally relaxed. Li Caixia, in rare generosity, handed them some money to go have fun.
Having studied diligently, they seldom played in the provincial capital, and now, with nothing on their minds, they headed out to enjoy themselves.
Within two days, Huo Qingze sent the exam papers and standard answers to Xu Mumu and the others.
Engaged in the tutoring industry and having published study guides, he collected these exam papers.
Having acquired them, he delivered a set to Xu Mumu and the others.
Excitedly, the kids eagerly examined them, curious even though they already knew their answers.
Reviewing the papers, the kids felt even more at ease.
"Satisfied now?" Xu Mumu smiled. Their performance was good enough to have a broad selection of schools in the Imperial City.
"Satisfied, satisfied." Xu Jiaojiao chimed in, "Huo is amazing to get these so quickly."
"Indeed impressive." Xu Tao chuckled. He felt he had done quite well since he double-checked himself during the exams to avoid careless mistakes and hadn’t made any.
"Hope the results come out soon." Tiedan eagerly awaited the exam results to be released swiftly.
